Hi,  I'm really confused about this test as I had my bloods done last week and my CA 125 was at 8 (i think that's what he said).  Anyway my ESR (Inflammatory marker) was at 24 so i need to go back next week for another blood test.  My symptoms began 2 weeks ago with loose stools (now I can't really go as I'm so worried I'm just not eating!!).  I've read that if your ESR is high then that too is a red flag for Ovarian Cancer.  I've been poking my stomach like crazy and convinced myself that i'm bloated (not too sure whether it's fat - how to tell the difference?).  Also i had a dull pain where my c-section scar is.  I'm beyond worried, i want to have an internal exam done so i'm thinking of going privately.  My husband has said to wait until i get the other results back.  I'm 49 years old and was on Cerezette pill for years, i came off it July last year and haven't had a period.  I don't know whether i'm going through menopause or what!!  Thank you for reading xx

  • Is anyone there? I'm so scared!!

  • Hi  hello Wave! Sorry for late reply.  My name is Janet , i have stage 3 OC, had 6 chemos and my surgery is next Thursday.  When i was diagnosed in February my ca125 was 98 , normal is up to 35, it is now 11, so you are well within normal reading, some ladies have reading in the thousands. Not sure about the esr test, maybe another lady can help with that one. It does take a while to get all the tests done, but your doc will go through the correct procedure, your husband is right, i know how scary it is when you don’t know, your mind plays tricks and every pain you panic, I still have problems with my c-scar and my son is 17!

But if it is OC, there are lots of treatments out there, there are quite a few of us on here , so we can support you , there is always someone who can answer a question, you are not alone .  Take care and keep us posted .

    love and Hugging

Hi, I am recently active on here again and just wondered how you are? My CA125 was 50 but anything below 35 is considered normal (it measures protein in your blood I believe). There are some cancers that can cause that number to give figures in the 1000's and others like mine that are not too high so you can't just rely on this as 'proof' of cancer. I would recommend paying privately for an internal scan if you are not offered one because I think we women tend to a) know when something is 'off' and b) worry. Put your mind at ease if you are not automatically sent for a vaginal ultrasound and rule out IBS for example. Best of luck x
