  • Hi Mich56,

My cancer returned in my stomach. It caused a bowel obstruction which I had an operation for. The cancer wasn't removed at the time and I haven't been offered surgery for the cancer either. I have been given a list of reasons as to why not but my Consultant eventually confirmed it was because I had only just had surgery for the bowel obstruction.  Would have felt better with the cancer removed.  I have asked on the forum just now if anyone has undergone 2nd time surgery and was it successful.

Following the bowel obstruction operation, I had 4 months chemotherapy, at a reduced dose, on a weekly basis (because I had lost so much weight due to the obstruction).  After chemo, Nov last year, my CA125 was 26 and I was prescribed Letrozol. It's an oestrogen suppressing drug which am told helps to keep the cancer at bay. My latest blood test Jan 26, my CA125 had risen to 54.  Due another scan shortly so here's hoping........

    I hope that's helped Mich 56.

  • I just answered your other post. Monthly chemo is usually carbo caelyx which can be effective at shrinking the cancer, they should scan you at the half way mark to see whats happening. From what you've said, surgery is not an option. Of course, you can seek a second opinion and should do if you want to be sure you are getting the best treatment.

  • Thank you I have last chemotherapy this week see consultant beginning of April what i have been told will be on watch and wait but will see what he says then as chemotherapy has worked as ca125 has come down last month was 38 so will see what it is this month x
