Hello I have just joined the forum. 18 months ago I was diagnosed with large tumour in my kidney and subsequently had a nephrectomy   12 months later a scan picked up 2 lesions on my lung so I had surgery to remove these too.
I am living in France although hope to return to the U.K. soon to be near family as I am on my own here and don’t speak the language very well so I don’t really understand what my prognosis will be
I have read things on the internet that frighten me and would like to hear from others in the same position and possible treatments available  to extend my life.  I am 67 and in otherwise good health.
I would be interested to hear from anyone dealing with similar and to hear also if treatments are available on the nhs especially in these times of covid

  • Hi there. I started with a similar story, large tumour then a  met on my pancreas with the possibility of surgery which was cancelled when others were found in my abdomen. Scary at the time but since then things have remained stable without any treatment, 3 month scans and a planned targeted drug therapy should things start to grow again.  There are many different treatments available and contrary to media scares things are still functioning here. As things become clearer it will seem more manageable

You will find it much better when you get home and have your family around you, the consultant will explain all your options to you in English, they have come a long way with new treatments, I wish you much luck and Macmillan are here for you too.
