well that went rather well, after a bumpy start.. PEG decided to give off a pink discharge after cleaning 1st thing.. swiftly cleaned up and loosened a tad by radiology head.. a bit of a pressure sore going on, with it being too tight..managed to get Flamagel RT, after explaining my situation, so I can get that without going through GP now.. most helpful, I must admit.. they're working to arrange my start times to fit with my daughter giving me transport.. but a bit of a sore throat though, not helped by my wife deciding to make candles, to while away the time... the smell of resin is just killing me.. oh hum.. apart from that I feel good, in a good mood. ready to eat ham + cheese omelette and chips. plenty of drugs to take tomorrow and next 3 days, and some anti sickness, if I need them... so, onward and upward.. pleased with today, I must admit.
oh, and afterwards, on the way out, I had the opportunity to try something, the name of which escapes me now.. but you stick this cling film covered 'lollipop' on your tongue for 1 min, under your tongue for 1 min, then you place this disc like thing on along your jaw, and lips, all for 1 min.. it is hoped that it reduces the after effects... we shall see, and hopefully I'll get the name tomorrow..
half way weekend.. and this is definitely going to be a game of two halves.. Last nights tanning session was somehow really intense, and I swear I could feel a burning on my neck, below my ear.. swapping out Aveeno for CeraVe cream, for more moisture overnight..
throat beginning to look a bit of a mess, with white crap taking hold, and teeth cleaning has become more painful.. so meds have begun, with fizzy paracetamol to start, I'll see how that goes before alternating with the Ibuprofen.. for now..
so, it looks like I'm entering the danger zone now.. I feel blessed that I've made it halfway in such good condition TBH.. and it looks like this half will lay 'In The Lap Of The Gods (revisited)' to a certain extent.. which has become my inspirational soundtrack for this battle, because there's only so much that we can do, and the rest is out of our control... and god knows we all need a little inspiration, don't we..onward

Keep going Loz...you're doing great. A word of warning about the fizzy paracetamol. I couldn't hack that at all...stung too much so I had liquid paracetamol...sugar free. It's the sort kids get but in a larger bottle. Don't worry about tooth brushing...you've had a varnish. Just keep your mouth as clean as you can with the plethora of mouth preps you have. Simple salt/bicarb is still pretty good

Meanwhile make up your fizzy paracetamol, stir the fizz well out of it and use the PEG

You are doing brilliantly. I actually liked the taste of the fizzy paracetamol and was able to take it orally throughout. Lots of people switched to liquid form and directly into the PEG so do what works for you. I did add in ibuprofen and had liquid morphine on standby (though didn't have to use it). Are you using a soft, manual toothbrush. My RT team recommended I switch to that at the outset and it was definitely more gentle. And use the mouthwash/tabs they've given you. My dentist told me to do salt mouthwash as much as possible. Keep an eye on that burning sensation, my skin really broke down in my last week and then had full on burns which needed dressings and gels. Talk to your team so that they can get whatever you might need ready. Freddie has gotten me through many a situation and I often hummed 'The Show Must Go On' on tough days because all you can do is power through now. Just know that there is light coming but it takes a wee while...

I'm still using a Curaprox with the small head and 7600 bristles.. it's actually nice and gentle to use.. maybe a baby brush if things turn for the worse..

I like the effervescent paracetamol as well. I find it helps clear my mouth as well as pain relief. That said last night the chemo effects were bad so I have to resort to using the PEG for it. Hopefully today I can be back on oral intake.
Hi Los yes you've done really well now youre coming to the nitty gritty stage. Keep on top of hydration ,pain relief and don’t be afraid to use your peg that’s why it’s there.
