Hi all,
I’m in hospital having my 2nd lung biopsy as first one didn’t collect enough tissue. I’m hoping to start immunotherapy in a couple of weeks subject to biopsy testing positive for PDL 1.
I’ve been told my cancer is not curable but immunotherapy could give me up to 2 years.
I don’t think this has really sunk in for me yet as I feel well and can’t comprehend not being around for my family. My husband isn’t coping at all and finds it difficult to talk about his feelings without getting really upset so we’re not talking about it.
I am so so sorry to read this, i dont know what to say- i hope the immunotherapy is suitable for you.
I do know my consultant mentioned some get much better than expected results on immunotherapy.
As for dealing with this, and your husbands response, are you being offered counselling?
Sending love, and really sorry to hear your news.
I was so very sad to read your news. Sending very positive vibes your way that treatment turns out better than expected-strange things can and do happen. My husband bottled his feelings when I had cancer 25 years ago and it took a few months and then a friend dragging him out for a beer for him to offload a little. I have everything crossed for you.

Thank you all for your kind words and understanding. We’ve recently had our first grandchild (5 weeks tomorrow) and he has helped enormously to keep us all occupied. We’re also expecting another due in October. Double trouble! This is what will keep me focussed on staying around for as long as possible.
Thanks again for your support.

How lovely that you’re so involved with your grandson Hazel. Isn’t it just the best feeling!
The hospital let me go home this evening as there were no complications and I live just up the road so could get there in a jiffy if needed. X
Bless you, Little-fi, fingers crossed for the immunotherapy, something like this must take a while to sink in, maybe just go with the flow and see where it takes you rather than thinking of the two years, this way you might be able to put it to the back of your mind. I'm sure your hubby will gradually come to terms and accept what you have been told making the most of life with you and your family. You both have a grandchild and one on the way who I'm sure will give you so much pleasure for years to come, so don't rush off .
Remember there is emotional help available should any off you feel you need a trained person to speak to, stay strong and positive, all the best for you and the family, take care.
Chris xx
Hi little-fi
So sorry for your news. There have been some remarkable results with immunotherapy so we can all hold up some hope. I've followed your struggles here and you were kind enough to befriend me and offer some really good advice when `I found myself in a possible pickle.
It's amazing how we can cope given some hope and I'm sure your husband will come round and be there for you and the rest of the family. Shock and denial can do strange things to our loved ones. The first leading onto the second as a coping mechanism initially.
I'm certain he will find the right time to get upset and have that rant and rail and be sad and be furious and be devastated all out in the open and the mist will clear so that you can be in this properly together.
I'm so glad you have the family round you as well as the family on here.
