Hi All

If this gets posted I will be surprised and relieved that the gremlins have disappeared.

Regrettably I have to share with everyone that my husband was informed last week that the operation was not as successful as we hoped it would be.  I will spare the details other than to say that he has now been told that it is 'incurable'.  His cancer is 'aggressive' and it is just a matter of time before it returns.   We have an appointment with the surgeon and the other members of the team in the next couple of weeks to discuss the possible option of 'buying' more time through immunotherapy treatment.  However there is no guarantee that he would be accepted and it seems that it would be at a different hospital that is running a trial.  Details yet to come.

Naturally we are sad and will have good days and not so good ones to come but we have resolved to live each day to the max that we can possibly do, creating memories together.

For any of the newer members or those at the beginning of their cancer journey I would like to point out that the way my husband's journey is playing out is not the norm.  There are plenty of people on this forum who are living proof that my husband's outcome is not the norm.

I will check in from time to time to catch up with people (passwords and gremlins allowing) but for now we need time to come to terms with everything.

He is home and we are together and that is all that matters for now.

Love to All

  • Good evening BrandyGirl , thanks for the update but not the best sort of news, I'm so sorry it has not worked out after giving it a good try, as you say it's not the norm it's just one of those things that happen in life. All I can say is that you both have been a great part of this community offering advice, posting questions, and supporting other members.

Lets hope he does get the chance to trial the immunotherapy treatment ( if he thinks it's for him ) as you never know where it can lead with all this new technology and treatment so I'm willing you both on. You both have given it your best and i admire the determination shown by you two, keep up this bulldog spirit. I know it can be hard to come to term with things but there is plenty of help out there to get you on the right path, of course, we will always be here for you and your special husband.

I would like to wish you both all the best for what lays ahead, as you say he is home and you are together just how it should be, sending love and hugs. Fingers crossed for the next two weeks with your husbands' consultant, take care.

                                                                                         Chris xx

  • Hi BrandyGirl

So sorry to hear your news. It's something we all dread as we go through the rigours of treatment but we still need to give it a go. I hope his team can do something to give you both much time to be together. I really really hope he can get onto the immunotherapy trial. Some great results have been reported. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and please do pop in now and then to say hello. All my love Dani xx
