On my neck across the middle I have red to dark red blotches, I take it/took it it was well is to do with the neck dissection but after nearly 5 years and it still being there it can't be what I thought which is bruising, it isn't a problem but when a 3 year old asks a question I try to answer and I can't, can any of you.

  • Hi Ron

19th months after end of treatment I still have red blotchy skin on the side of my neck where I had radiotherapy.  Not sure if it's the same as yours though?

  • Could well be, mine goes right across my neck about half way down, I had a full dissection and radio right across. I will see if I can get a photo

  • Hi Ron. Did you have radiotherapy after surgery? If so, is it telangiectasia - a late effect of RT? I have telangiectasia of the inside of my cheek and soft palate, but none on my neck. If you didn’t have RT then I have no suggestions I’m afraid

  • Yes I had radio from bottom of chin down the neck as they were happy with the margins of the cancer sight (from reading I was lucky it wasn't higher), that one is going to be hard to explain lol.

  • Yes, telangectasia

Like Hilary I have some inside one cheek. My dentist tells me it’s lichen planus but I never had it till RT

    Its permanent but will fade

  • He'll think I'm talking about one of his dinosaurs.

So I am still going to struggle, it's funny he doesn't ask about the scar or me not having much of a top lip but dose about the red blobs.

    Thankyou all for the answers

    PS not sure it fades
