Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • Thanks MickeyM.

The weather looks pretty good for next week. So looking forward to some nice walks. Hopefully this will get me on the path to fitness. I'm pretty rubbish fitness wise at the minute. Pre cancer I was reasonably fit, so there's lots of room for improvement.

Hope the rt is going well. Take advantage of the sunshine.

    Take care xx

  • Hi

I'm reading the itchy thread with interest. So far I'm just sore and have some occasional stabbing pains.

I had an itchy nipple which has subsided.

In summer I come out in hives, in a random way. Once my entire face swelled up in minutes while walking through m and s.

I'm squirreling away your tips in case the itch strikes as I'm.only 3 weeks post rt ans summer is on its way.

  • Hi Daiquiri,

It was a lovely day today and so I decided to walk back from the hospital. Took me about 100 mins, but I wasn’t pacing, just enjoying the fresh air. Saying that, it was hotter than expected and I had to keep my jacket done up to make sure I didn’t expose the RT area. I had a few flushes, but it was definitely worth it. Like you say, it’s a good opportunity to get out walking and improve your fitness levels again.

I actually passed out late this afternoon after my two apts earlier (I had a plastic surgeon check up too). Absolutely shattered, so glad I have two days off now.

Reconstructed boobie definitely getting red now, even plastic surgeon commented on it. You can see the red line appearing around the area now.  Just hope it the skin holds. I will keep slapping the flamigel on.

RT times are all over the place again next week. I have got a break on Wednesday when they service the scanner, so my RT will go to a fourth week.

Very tired, but otherwise ok. I have been taking an antihistamine every day with my Anastrozole to try and prevent itchiness. I’ll let you know how that works out. Glad to hear the itchy nipple has subsided, but wondering what sort of soreness you are experiencing now? I can’t believe you’re three weeks past RT already .

Have a great weekend - virtual hugs HeartMickey xx

  • Hi - I'm only 3 weeks post RT myself so we're at the same point.  My skin has settled well now.  I sat out in the garden today & even though I had a top up to my neck, I still put a flannel over my chest area for extra protection because I couldn't be bothered to put SPF on!

Ive been feeling really sickly & tired the last 2 days.  I had started to feel much better first half of the week & probably did a bit too much (went back to the gym).

One more week off work then I need to get back to it so I hope I perk up!

Have a good weekend.  Weather looks fab.  Xx

  • Hi all I’m about 4 weeks post RT and have been slapping on moisturiser. The underboob crease has now started to blister and peel. It is quite sore and painful. I’m trying to prevent skin2skin contact and keep it dry. Any ideas?

  • Hi

You should contact your radiotherapy department as they can supply you with the appropriate dressings.

In the meantime take any painkillers you would normally take for the pain.if the skin is wet and weeping I would stop moisturising there to allow the area to dry out and avoid introducing infection .

Hope you feel better soon x

Hi all, anyone else starting radiotherapy next week? I start on Tuesday and have 5 sessions on my right breast. Really not sure what to expect! Having read your kindly detailed posts I understand I'll need to moisturise lots :) Had 6 sessions of chemo finishing in Jan 22 and really felt them, had quite a terrible time with it. I'm hoping beyond hope that radiotherapy can't possibly be as bad as chemo...

I already have a breast reconstruction on the same side I'll be having rads, as I had this done three years ago and had a recurrence on my mastectomy scar line last year. Has anyone else had this? I've heard the rads might affect or distort the silicone implant, but the doctors and nurses have been quite vague about it. Appreciate hearing about your experiences!

    Hugs xxx

  • Hi

my lovely tissue viability team saw me this morning and have supplied me with hydracolloid gel, dressings and a vest/crop top to keep everything in place.
Thank you for your advice x

  • That’s great….. hopefully you will start to heal up soon.

    Take care x

    1. Oh no!   I'm at 4 weeks after & am hoping I got away without any major skin issues.  How frustrating for it to happen now.  Hopefully the dressings will help it heal quickly.  Good luck! xx
