This is me! I have to take tablets for 3 months to shrink 2 tumours, then chemo, then Mastectomy.  Its all over left breast and another in armpit. Surgeon says it will be "tricky" as armpit one is under breast tissue. I have just taken my first tablets called Letrozole and I know, for me, it starts now.

  • Can anyone let me know what this tablet does? I'm on it for 1 week then go back, have bloods checked and start another tablet as well...begins with (Placiclob!?) I think, I can't remember off the top of my head.
  • What happens at mastectomy,  can I have implant at same time?
  • Tips for dealing with Chemo? I have to have this before mastectomy.
  • Advice please ladies?

A lot of your treatment depends on your oncologist..  Letrozole cuts down the amount of oestrogen in your body. The tumour 'feeds' off it.  They obviously want to check on your oestrogen levels after a week on the tablet.  Whether you can have reconstruction at the same time as your mx depends on your hospital trust.  My trust were not offering it when I had mine done though, now we are coming out of Covid, they may offer it to you.  I didn't have chemo so can't help on this but there is a chemo thread where you should be able to find some hints and tips.

I'm currently having chemo. Had my 3rd round of EC. Need to have another 3 cycles of docetaxel.  I've not had letrozole tabs.  It takes about 10days for me to regain my energy levels. I have my chemo every 3weeks. Ive had the cold cap treatment but still lost most of my hair. I had an MRI last week after my 2nd cycle which showed that the tumour is shrinking which is positive. I also have it in my left breast and a couple of nodules in my armpits for which I Will have to have surgery. My surgery is scheduled for after I complete my chemo. Stay positive and listen to your body. Wishing you all the best.
