DIEP Surgery.....Thoughts?

Hello everyone.

I have opted for DIEP surgery using tissue from my stomach (assuming I can)

I was just looking for some advice, thoughts or feelings from those who have had it done already. I have quite large boobs, and am NOT having a double mastectomy so will also need reconstruction/reduction on the other side to make me look even. I have been told that this will more than likely not take place at the same time Disappointed

Look forward to any comments. Or a nice chat.

Thank you xx Love to all <3

  • Hi, I had diep surgery from my stomach in October 2024 and was really happy with results. I have also just gone through a reduction in healthy breast in December 2025. I did have to wait longer than I expected, but really happy with the result. I have now booked in for a 3d nipple tattoo, to complete feeling back to my normal self. I wish you well on your journey, if you would like any more info on my journey, I'm happy to share. Xx

  • I am also interested and would like to know why you have to wait to do the reduction in the other breast?

Is it not standard to do it at the same time as the time

  • Hi, thanks for your responses. I had a meeting with one of the plastic surgeons today. He said it can be between 4 - 12 months for the other breast to be uplifted. Looks like I'm going to have to try and find some decent bras that will make me look normal.

They don't do it at the same time due to the length of the operation :(

  • Ah ok interesting Thinking

  • Hiya, I had a diep in 2022, I’ve never regretted it. I have lost and put on weight since surgery and it does that with you. I had a good result overall and have since covered any scarring and lack of symmetry with tattoos which I love. The stomach scar has faded well, still visible obviously but better than I thought. It was a tough operation, the first two weeks are hard, but as I say, I’ve not regretted it at all. Happy to share any other answers to any questions you may have x

  • Thank you I am also looking at what they call goldilocks mamaplasty  where they remove all breast tissue from breast cancer breast and use the other breast i am a  GG cup so that might be an option it is a diep or similar. I having my mid treatment ultrasound today wish ne luck

  • Thank you for sharing. I'm not bothered about scarring on the stomach area. I'm just hoping to look as normal as possible xx

  • Nobody would be able to tell the surgery I’ve had in a swimming costume, I’ve had a very good result x

  • How did you get on with your ultrasound x
