Just a quick post for those starting this roll coaster of a journey. I was diagnosed over five years ago (at 50, first screening so caught quite early, in 2020) and I am leading a perfectly healthy and active life. Tamoxifen side effects lasted a couple of months. I’m now due to switch to letrozole so we will see what that brings.
I never stop thinking about cancer, but it does get easier and most days are just ‘normal’.
so if you have just been diagnosed hang in there, life will return to some normality, talk to your loved ones about how you feel and try not to google too much.
everyone is completely different, with varying side effects and recovery rates, try not to compare. You are you and you just need to give yourself time to adjust, recover and life will return to some normality again.
yoga helped me enormously, I reduced my alcohol but still enjoy a glass of wine most nights, I walk and enjoy travelling, Cyprus, Italy and Budapest booked this year. I took early retirement at 55 so I’m now able to enjoy all that life has to offer. All being well for a long time to come.
Good luck to all of you who are going through this dreadful experience, I wish you well. Remember to be kind to yourself.
This is so lovely to hear. Thank you for sharing this and being honest about your lifestyle, it gives us all hope xx
Wonderful and so glad you are doing well and enjoying life to the fullest. Inspiration for us all.
Barbara
