Hi
I have just had my treatment change to Capesitanbin, form anothe Chemo drug. The original drug did work and helped, but i have new growths of cancer in my liver which were not targetted by the previous chemo drug. I think this is my last chance drug and dont ecpect to see out the year. I am not yet 60yrs. Has anyone had experience of this drug and possible side effects?

Hi I have been on Capcitabin for about 6 months now. I have been really surprised how any side effects have been minimal for me.
Previously I was on Palsiclabib and not only were the side effects much more noticeable it didn’t really help as the tumours on my spine were increasing.
Touch wood the last two scans showed the tumours were reducing and hopefully it will continue to hold them back for a while.
I happened to see a photo of myself taken last January while on the Palsicllbib and I look dreadful. I remember how tired I was all the time.
When first prescribed Capcitabin I felt it was like waiting for a time bomb to go off as I was warned about the possible side effects but while admittedly being aware of some changes mainly digestive ones I feel much better.
I hope yours turns out to be successful for you that the side effects are minimal.
regards Judith
Hi,
I have been on Capecitabine since August 2020 and surprisingly have had no side effects. (Touch wood).
I was on Letrozole for about 6 months before that but it didn't work at all. Bigger and more tumours. Unfortunately covid put paid to scans, so didn't know. Since being on Capecitabine my tumours have stabalised and even decreased in size in some areas.
You can only try and see if you are lucky too.

Glad all is going well. Iam waiting to DPD results and then I am on Cape. All I have read has suggested few people get side effects and it is well tolerated, we shall see.
I do hope your treatment goes ahead with few side effects and it works.
