Hello,

I'm preparing for my single masectomy and full lymph node removal in a couple of weeks and understand that it's recommended that you have a front fastening clothes and bras. I can't have reconstruction because of covid so presume I need a bra with a 'pocket' for prosthesis. I'm googling but wondered if anyone could give me any recommendations as I'm becoming overwhelmed! Many thanks and much love x

  • Hi  welcome know you would rather not be here but best place to come to get answers and support .

My story is on my profile just click on my name to read if you want .

Youre right front fastening clothes  and nightwear is best because of arm movement .

With regards bras try Asda who gave a good selection their frontfastening sport type bra is very popular . You certainly don't want to pay too much at first until things settle down regards swelling . You can also buy bra band expander which help with swelling .

M&S also have a selection and I've used Nicola jane which is on line think they now have a phone line for fit questions .

I'm now 18month after my SMX and have no problems with Clarrisa my prosthesis and have found that I can buy pockets to sew in to normal bras so much cheaper .

    Good luck

Hi, the Asda front fastening bras are very comfy, reasonably priced and available to order online. Good luck with all your treatment - the waiting part is hard.

  • Try amazon.. I have two small early comfortable front zip fastening. Pjs front buttons from marks and Spencer’s . Asda also great but when I was shopping only had hook and eye front fastening rather than zip, which I found easier and more comfortable. Order a few on delivery. All have free returns if they are not right, x

    Thank you x

  • I would agree with the Asda ones to start with, cheap and comfy until, as Margaret says, things settle down.

  • I would also suggest you have a few oversized cotton T-shirt’s and anything new you buy clothing wise is either cotton or linen - the breathable natural fabric makes a real difference as I found synthetic or man made fibres felt uncomfortable and hot x

    good luck x Carrie
