Diagnosed 23rd December with invasive ductal breast cancer, stage 2 , ER positive, HER negative, then 18th January wide local excision with 3mm clear margins, sentinel node biopsy 1 positive and removed during surgery. I was 51 at time of diagnosis and fit and healthy apart from mild hypertension, I work full-time.

Oncotype DX test sent and I’m now 52 years of age, result-  17 so low risk in view of my age, forthcoming appointment with oncologist to discuss ? chemo or go for less radical hormone therapy and radiotherapy.

From what I’ve read ductal cancer is more  likely to cause recurrence than other breast cancers so any advice or thoughts appreciated regarding going for chemo or not

Hi sorry your finding yourself with this dilemma. I'm expecting something similar. But will know more after surgery as my HR2 was borderline.

Have you looked at the predict program? It calculates how much you could benefit from different treatments based on your age, er and hr2 status. Also, they can send a sample to America to be treated to give a more individual guide of chemo benefits. Has your breast care nurse talked to you about them?

Sorry just re read and saw you had oncology test done. What's your gut instinct on this? It's really tough .
