My first cycle of EC has gone well, I did have some constipation which was relieved with Dulcolax.   But it wasn't a umm...gentle solution Nauseated face.  For my next cycle I wondered if anyone has any suggestions of what  to take before it becomes a problem?  I did drink plenty of water  but I think it's the cocktail of drugs we have that caused it.  Is there a daily gentle softener recommended?

  • Hi Cupotea

Yes, I remember I had to take dulcolax before my C/T scan and it caused quite a reaction!!! For my EC, my doctor gave me 6 sachets of Movicol to be used morning and night for the first 3 days, and I found it helpful but not overly.... explosive! I also used prune juice, just a shot glass full in the mornings for the first week or so, and that worked well for me too.

  • Hi

There is also Dulcoease, which is a softener and kinder than the laxative version. I use that when the natural products ( usually prunes!) aren’t quite doing the trick

Hope your next cycle goes as well and this helps

  • Thank you!  I've added prune juice to the shopping list.  I've also been recommended licorice,  so ordered a bumper bag of licorice torpedoes, Catherine wheels and those little pink and blue bobbly sweets Grinning

  • Be careful with liquorice if you have high blood pressure or heart trouble as I believe it can make it worse ( my father in law loved liquorice but was told to avoid it once he’d had a heart attack)- or kidney issues. I tend to just add 3 prunes to my breakfast

    enjoy!

  • Ah I do have high blood pressure,  just the prune juice then Confounded

  • That’s a pity, but better be safe than sorry. Green leafy veg are also good or any dried fruit

    Wishing you all the best
