Hi, I’m due to have the five day radiotherapy treatment next week and have been told by my breast care nurse to moisturise a week before with E45. However, my oncologist has recommended Aveeno. Does anyone have any recommendations on which is best please. Also, should I moisturise on the morning of the treatment and is lotion or cream best?
Hello Floss b, since posting the above I’ve been reading some posts on this subject. Looks like my Aveeno will be good and Aloe Vera which I just realised I have in the back of a cupboard so will pop that in the fridge . Have you used either of these?
Sorry, I got really muddled on doing a reply!! I'll try again!
I was told to use Aveeno half way through my radiotherapy after telling them I had been told to use Aqueaous Cream which is a big no no. I also used Simple Moisturiser. I used it morning and night every day and still do. Hope that helps!
Radiotherapy is OK They are a great bunch I found and only want to help. Once I got over the modesty side and having a man do it on occasion, it was fine.
Take care. xx
Hi Jigsawgirl, I finished 5 days of radiotherapy yesterday. I was told E45 cream to put it on thinly 1/2 hours before therapy then again 1/2 hours after. My skin feels slightly uncomfortable but ok. But I'm sore inside if that makes sense. Make sure you do your exercises because of the position that the arm will go in.
I was told do not use any cream that contains SLS. sodium lauryl sulphate
Hope that helps and good luck
x
Hi Maggie, thanks for your reply. Sounds like the E45 is working for you - so glad. I know what you mean about feeling sore inside - I’d wondered about that myself. I’ve been doing the exercises and also breath holding as left breast is being treated. Hope everything works out well for you, thank you x
I got mine from Amazon it was much less expensive. Both the Aveeno and tub of Aloe for the fridge.
Good luck Debs x
Thanks. I’ve actually just ordered some from Morrison’s, it’s on offer if you need some more x
