Hickman Line

This is probably because it has slipped off the first page of the discussions list as there are lots of previous posts where people have mentioned having a Hickman line. I had a Hickman line during treatment - they put it through your vein guided by ultrasound so I'm not sure about the implant question - I guess it depends on whether the implant obscures the image. You could call your BCN and ask, or post in Ask a Nurse where they aim to get back to you in 2 working days.

I found my Hickman line fine - freaked me out a bit because I'm squeamish, but was brilliant for getting chemo and bloods done - much less hassle. I had mine put in part way through treatment and wish I'd had it at the beginning. Lots of people have a PICC line and find that fine too - it goes in the top of the arm so if you can't have the Hickman, maybe they will be able to offer that?

As latchbrook mentioned, posts do sometimes fall off the first couple of pages and get missed so always feel free to bump your own post back up the list. All of us here really want to help whenever we can.
