Reconstruction and radiotherapy

It's natural to have concerns around your upcoming treatment and I noticed that you hadn't had any replies to your post. 

I haven't had radiotherapy as my type of cancer doesn't respond to it but I thought I'd suggest you post this question in the breast cancer radiotherapy thread and hopefully someone will be able to help you further.

If you don't get any replies you could also post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community, and one of the specialist nurses will reply within 2 workings days, or have a chat with your BCNS.

A warm welcome to the online community. I see you've also asked this in the radiotherapy thread as latchbrook suggested so hopefully someone might answer there. 

I didn't have reconstruction but from what I've learnt here on the forum, there is a chance that the implant can become encapsulated. Radiotherapy has a tendency to make all your body tissues hard - it does go back to normal after time but can cause issues. What can happen is that the tissues form a sort of hard shell around the implant. It certainly doesn't always happen and it can be fixed afterwards.

It's also something you can ask at your radiotherapy oncology consultation and/or your radiotherapy planning appointment.
