Hi Deb's and everyone else on this topic,

I'm due to start radiotherapy on the 11th of February,  I've had chemo and in December I  had a therapeutic mammoplasty . All is healing well and my results were all good, but I have to have 4 weeks of radiotherapy, 20 sessions, so not looking forward to that.

I also have to undergo another year of targeted therapy,  so seems like a never ending rollercoaster ride!

The hospital is a good distance away so not looking forward to all the travelling again especially if the snow comes.

Hope everything goes well with all of you on here and we can get our lives back on track and start living again

    Lots of love and hugs

  • Hi Lelsleyanne

I hope your treatment goes well, sounds like you have a lot going on.

I also had a therapeutic mammoplasty in January and still very swollen and hard.  I've just had a chat with the oncologist today to plan the RT.  I don't think I'll be able to have the scan in 2 weeks if this swelling doesn't go down.  She said I'd have to pull the breast to one side as it my left and they worry about the heart.  No way could I do that now, way too painful.  How did you get on after the mammoplasty and the scan?

Wishing you all the very best.

    Big love

    Hi Dee,

My operation went really well and has healed up quite nicely.  It is still a bit tender to touch and sometimes a bit painful especially when I decide to go a bit mad  with the house work and different chores. I'm quite independent and like to do things for myself . I do have some one walking my dog at the moment as she is strong and a bit of a puller!

I did walk her a couple of times but it made my boob quite sore.

I find it still uncomfortable to sleep on my side but other than that it is going pretty well,  I am trying to make sure I  keep doing the exercises.

My planning went well,  wasn't to uncomfortable,

The gown they gave me was huge so before I left they found me a smaller one. I have to keep it and remember to bring it every day.

I had the tattoos done but  you can hardly see anything,  I did not find that painful.

I hope your pain goes away soon and you can have your treatment.

I have got my covid jab the day before I start my RT just hope my arm won't be too sore to raise up.

Opposite arm of course but I think both arms end up raised.

    Love and hugs hugs

    Hi girlie's

Well this is the last day of my 5 day rt. My skin is holding up really well. Drinking plenty and applying aveeno regularly. The staff are really kind and supportive.

Just taking some paracetamol for my sore boob...not painful just sore.

I worried for nothing so I'm hoping this has been your experience too.

I took the week off work so I could just concentrate on myself and my treatment. Another week off next week just to rest and monitor.

    Good luck peeps.

    Hi Debs

I'm pleased to hear that you are on your last session and that you didn't have to many problems.

I just had the 2nd one this morning,  apart from the early appointments everything is going well.  The staff are all lovely and friendly and made me feel at ease.

My first appointment I had to be there about 40 minutes prior to the treatment,  but that was just to discuss about my treatment plan, go through any questions I might have and to give me all the times and dates going forward.

Today's I was only there about 20 minutes.

I still have 18 more to go but hey ho!

I was a bit tired and headachey yesterday but I put that down to the covid vaccine I had on Wednesday.

The staff said that the time will fly by and I'll be finished before I know it.

Lots of love and big hugs.

So pleased to hear all this Debs. My last one on Monday. Using lots of Aveeno too and so far so good. Remember to keep using it for the next few weeks. Good luck x

  • Hi Lesleyanne

Glad to hear your treatment is going ok so far. I haven't been on for a while, having problems with my thyroid meds and back to being exhausted again.

I'm still waiting to get my app for the CT scan and tattoos.  I've found a company selling compression garments and have bought a couple of bras.  It's really helped the swelling although not back to normal by any means.

I realise now I heard the consultant wrong on the phone, she said hold your breath, not hold your breast! Joy  Because it's left side they need to make sure they don't get the heart.

I've been using the blue bottle of Aveeno, it's quite thick and I don't like the smell very much.  Do you think the blue or the green is better, perhaps there's not much difference?

Hope all keeps going in the right direction for you.

    Big love

    Dee xx
