Hi all, my question sounds silly but it's driving me mad and I need to ask. I had my surgery and had 2 lumpectomy's at the beginning of December and thankfully, they are confident that they have removed all of the cancer :) I will be starting radiotherapy soon,I don't have a date yet but was told after christmas so shouldn't be much longer. I haven't been told if I am ok to drink alcohol while I am going through the radiotherapy. I like a few glasses of wine to chill out on a night and want to see if I will need to stop this please.

Sorry if I sound silly,I don't even know how the radiotherapy will affect me so it may not even matter if I can't be bothered anyway. Can you help me please?

Thanks xx

  • Hi , great your surgeries are done and dusted, and now moving on to radiotherapy. Sorry can’t help re alcohol as I don’t drink at all now but would just say that they do advise to keep well hydrated. It apparently helps with possible fatigue. I developed a much better water drinking habit during rads and hopefully it helped.
It’s not at all a silly question, and if you don’t get an answer here then do ask at your rads planning meeting. You need to know these things and the more you know, the better you can prepare! Love and hugs, HFxx

Thank you, I will ask when I go x

  • This might sound like a silly question but if they are confident they have removed all the cancer, why do you need radiotherapy?

    Hi Lesley63,

They want to make sure there's nothing lingering around in there, I had some flecks of calcification in my breast as well so they want to give them a blast to make sure. x
