Hi, just wondered if there was anyone who had had a double DIEP?
I had breast cancer on right in 2011 and had lumpectomy and full lymph node clearance.
Now in 2020 I've got it in the left breast and I have to have a mastectomy. I am considering trying to persuade them to take to right (old) one too.
My doctor said I could have a double DIEP, they could take fat from my tummy to make one breast and fat from my back to make the other one- at the same time. Although I would have a mastectomy taking the new cancer breast and putting in a temporary breast in March and then have the double later in the year when I am stronger.
Sounds like a massive job with a long recovery time.... anyone had this done?
Thanks
Sally
I do know that she offered to pay for the other one to be done she was so desperate to have both done but fortunately her insurance agreed. Good luck.XXXX
