I’ve just been diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductial . With lymph nodes affected Awaiting the rest of my results. My breast now seems to have a burning sensation. Has anyone else experienced this. Is it from the breast biopsy or in my head?

  • Hi Selinab welcome to the forum .

I imagine that this is as a result of having had the biopsies taken and bruising will be beginning to develop. Does the breast look or feel red hot to the touch etc? If this is the case then that hot feeling can be the start of an infection and needs medical intervention.

i imagine that you have lots of questions and anxieties around what has happened for you and your diagnosis so please do post as much as you like in this forum with any questions. There are lots of us who have been where you are right now so can relate to how you may be feeling and will try to answer as best we can.

Meanwhile I'm sending some huge big hugs your way for now xxxx

  • Hi granny59. I have a huge bruise at site of biopsy. Feels just as hot as the other breast . At the moment I just feel so sick and seem to have every pain going. Think my mind is playing tricks on me. Just can’t bear having bra on. It’s mainly the nipple that feels burning just a strange sensation. Have jcome of my HRT when I found out . Not sure if this could cause this? Thanks for hugs sending hugs back . X

  • Hi Selinab not surprised about the bruising I've seen some crackers of bruises over time have you tried a bag of frozen peas but not directly onto your skin as it will burn your skin but put the peas in a towel you can use that to take some of the heat out of the bruising.

I imagine that the bruising can extend to your nipple as well dependent on where they have been poking around to take the biopsies. You are not alone in your mind playing tricks it happens to us all and is what happens when this beast invades our lives uninvited and turns our worlds upside down and so much uncertainty its mind boggling.

Don't wear the bra if this hurting, just have a few hours in the day of freedom from the bra and see how that helps, or put something really soft inside the bra to stop maybe the material rubbing the nipple area see if that works. xxxx

Im not sure what if any being on HRT would have with what you are feeling but you will be off that until they have all the results and to check if the Cancer is Oestrogen specific.

Hi, I had the exact same diagnosis on xmas eve. How are you doing now? My affected breast is sore and I seem to have different pains each day at the minute I’m driving myself mad. X

  • Hi mumof2, sorry you are on this path like me. Still having burning pain in breast but more now in my arm. Every pain I worry. Just worried it’s spread and want to get treatment started but covid seems to be getting in the way. Nothing seems to be moving ( I’m not the most patient person anyway) trying to keep positive but hard. Xx

This waiting is awful. Especially late at night when there is no distractions.  I was diagnosed on Dec 3rd with idc, not sure of grade but ER&PR negative and HER2 positive with possible 2 lymph node involvement. After my 1st biopsy my breast was bruised for 2 months and I still have burning pain mostly on chest and neck or arm. It comes and goes. I have the same worries and had myself so convinced it spreading to all my lymph nodes that I became nauseous and couldnt eat for 2 days.  Reading some of the stories on here has helped a lot and I joined a her2 positive Facebook group too. I talked to my GP & she said to call if I need meds for anxiety or sleeping or pain. Going to my test appointments helped, I felt like I was one more step closer to treatment.  I get to see my surgeon on Thursday so I’m hopeful my waiting to start treatment will be over.

  • Hi the waiting is always the worst if you looking for distraction ,chat and humour through the night try the Awake thread we nearly always have some on thru the night chatting .

How did it go today ? I meet my oncologist in the morning for the first time and have a blood test - not sure what for I’m guessing it’s to decide which treatment I can have. I just want to get on with it now. I’ve decided to keep my children off school (6&9) (usually a primary school TA so they had a keyworker place) homeschooling today has kept my mind occupied! X

It was good news. My bone & CT scan were clear except for 1 lymph node. She is referring me to a medical oncologist now. So I can start chemo first & shrink this sucker. I was expecting this, so I’m going to start reading about chemo side effects and tips.

Yet that’s amazing!! I had the same result today too! I was expecting to have to wait until next Friday. CT scan clear aside from boob and 1 lymph node - MRI showed that the area is larger than they originally thought so it’s going to be a mastectomy. Hopefully chemo will start next week! X
