Hi. I am on 4th EC starting Paclitaxel next week for 12 weekly courses.

I have developed an irritating cough and shortness of breath even after little activity.  Anybody else have this side effect. I've had chest xray and that was fine but it's quite debilitating going up and down stairs etc. My covid tests have all been negative.  Maybe it will go when this EC is replaced by Taxol?  I hope so. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks x

  • Hi,

just don’t ignore this; I’ve no experience about the chemo but a dry cough and shortness of breath is not a good sign at present!

Hope it’s chemo related and that it eases off quickly!

Hi moomy. Thanks for reply. Its def not covid related as I've been tested. I've had it for couple of weeks and it does say it is a rare side effect of chemo. Oncologist seems to think it's side effect and we are keeping close eye on it. Was really wondering if anyone else was having this side effect with EC and if it went away when they changed chemo drugs?  I must admit with this pandemic it was my first thought but that has been ruled out.  Keep safe everyone xx

  • Thank goodness for that! Have to say your query concerned me.
I hope the medics have sorted you something out to help, even an inhaler?

  • Hi Nottoday I was on EC x6 I was warned by Onco that shortness of breath was a side effect . I also developed dry cough .

On these grounds along with lower back prob and age I was advised to get blue badge which I did . So glad I did usually the shortness of breath was worst immediately after chemo .

Everyone reacts differently but although I'm finished chemo I'm still on treatment every three weeks and infusion every six months I still get breathless but it has improved being shielded and not exercising has lowered my fitness .

At the beginning of Covid someone on the site said herceptin had been stopped in some areas as it duplicated Covid symptoms so think I've been double whammied lol Joy

If you getting 3 EC then hopefully you get rid . I knew that 6 EC was asking for cumulative effects .

One step at a time and ...Breathe !
