Hi all
2 weeks ago a noticed an indentation that runs down my boob. I thought I could be my bar but it never went away and started getting wider. I went to my GP on Monday and my GP referred me for an urgent referral. The next day I had a call for my appointment. The next available date is 30/12/2020. I questioned why so long for an urgent referral and was told they are busy and this is the best they can do for an urgent referral.
Has any one else experienced this. Should I be worried it’s over the maximum 2 week referral. I have called my GP and they have chased it but saying that I was given the next available appointment! Is there anything I can do to hurry the process up?
thank you
xx
Hi ,
so sorry there is a wait at a very anxious time for you. I would guess that your hospital is very stretched and yes, sadly urgent appointments do slip back. However, I would guess you going back to your GP, then chasing it, is the best you can do apart from perhaps phoning yourself, asking to speak to the department secretary to say you can manage to fit in any possible cancellation.

Thanks moomy.
I have called the department and asked to be placed on the cancellation list. And my GP has tired other services but no luck. I think I am just working my self up. This year has be far from normal. I have had a little vent, feel a lot better.
Thanks for your reassurance xxx
Z123 sorry to hear you have this wait time. Covid has a lot to answer for! If you and your gp are both chasing, and you have asked for cancellation, then you have done all you can so try to relax if you can, I know that is easier said than done.
i went to my gp end of June, was diagnosed in early July but then had a 9 week wait for emergency surgery! Luckily I was still working, so just tried to carry on as normal to keep my mind off it.
Wishing you well, and fingers crossed a cancellation comes up.
