Hi, i had a manmoplasty 5 months ago, and have still got a slightly swollen, painful bruise which just does not seem to want to go. I just wondered if anyone else had had similar issues. I was checked a couple of months ago and they said it was nothing to worry about, but will it ever go? It hurts and is making sleeping difficult, i hoped to be feeling better by now.
Hello, sad you’re still struggling. I have found that breast tissue seems to take a very long time to recover after surgery, maybe because it’s a large area of what’s known as ‘soft tissue’. Even sprains (basically damage of ligaments around a joint) can take a full 6 weeks to recover, a severe sprain can mean 6 weeks in a plaster cast followed by a period of rehabilitation! So it follows that such a deep area to get bruised by surgery takes quite a lot longer to recover. Have you been advised that you can help by massage? Perhaps with a bio oil? It might also be worthwhile asking your BCN if warmth or chilling could help?
