Suspected tumour?

Hi, I need some advice.. so about 2 maybe 3 weeks ago now I went to the doctor with a hard lump on my breast which she said she thinks is a bengin (hope I spelt that right) tumour because of my age (I’m 18) and she referred me to the breast clinic to get tests done just in case it wasn’t bengin. I got a letter about a week ago saying to call the breast clinic for an appointment so I did, they said I should wait 6 weeks for a letter for an appointment. Which I thought was a very long time for something quiet urgent, but okay that’s fine. Then last night I got a call from my doctors saying they have cancelled my referral because of the covid measures and because of my age and the fact I have no family history so I ’m very low risk. I can’t help but be really angry at that and I feel really let down I’ve had no definite answer of what this is and I’m not quiet sure what to do next...

If the lump is still there go back to your GP and ask for another referral.  You should be seen within 2 weeks but due to Covid mine took 6 weeks.  You are very young for it to be cancer but not impossible.  Stand your ground and insist on being seen. As your GP said, it is probably benign but it still needs checking.

  • Do not accept this!  Threaten surgery with a complaint.  You need to investigate this lump benign or not .

Thank you, I’ve got in touch with my gp today they’ll give me an appointment Monday to be seen again. It’s very anxiety inducing with all the waiting about. Hope everything went okay your end.

Should have an appointment again Monday if there are no improvements I will definitely be putting in a complaint, my gp have let me down numerous times this will just be adding to the list this is certainly the last straw for me

I have stage 2 invasive lobular cancer with lymph node involvement so am waiting for a mastectomy. My type does not respond to chemo so will possibly have radiotherapy after the op.  Also on oestrogen blockers as my cancer 'feeds' off oestrogen.
