Hi everyone, I hope I have posted this in the right place it's been a while since I posted a message.

I had left a post(or thought I had lol) about PMPS (post mastectomny pain syndrome) since I posted my message I have now been for my hospital appointment and checked over.

It's been 12 years since I had my mastectomy, firstly my operation followed by chemotherapy, radiotherapy,5 years of Tamoxifin, and 3 years Letrozol since then I've had no trouble at all until now I suddenly developed a swelling under my armpit it felt tingly and very, very itchy this went on for months and when it turned to pain along my mastectomy scar/shoulder and arm at times it was very painful so much so it affected my grip or applying pressure, lifting my arm which in my job(HCA) I need so at that point I thought I'd better have it checked out.

The consultant sent me for a scan(ultra sound) checking under my armpit and along my scar thankfully nothing showed, tested my blood but he said it sounds like you have pmps he explained it can happen in 30% of women(lucky me Smiley) it's possibly something to do with the radiotherapy and damaged tissue in the surounding area, I can if I choose to have medication to help with the pain but I'd rather carry on without it, for now, I'll see how things go I can, of course, use creams such as Voltarol which does help.

So my question is has anyone else experianced this?

  • Hi Denise

You did post about PMPS recently and if you want to get back to it clicking here will take you straight there.

I haven't had the experience you're asking about but noticed that your post hadn't had any response. This could be because it's slipped down the discussions list so by replying to you it will 'nudge' it back to the top.

I did type 'PMPS' into the group's search bar but I'm afraid only one previous post mentioning it came up. However, this doesn't mean that only one other person in the group has experienced this, just that only one other person has mentioned it in a post.
