Hi all I have read with interest all the replies on Letrozole, I too started taking it in April of this year. I am suffering terrible with joint pains mainly in my hands and lower back some time. I have a telephone consultation with my oncologist on 16th September so will ask about supplements. My letrozole is also Sun pharma make wasn't even aware about other brands and the difference in them. I really don't think I could stand the joint pain for 10 years so will see what I am told.I can take.
Thanks Smudgy
Hiya,
Let me just say that I started taking letrozole in July 2017. To begin with I had joint pains and every morning it was terrible, I was walking down the stairs like I was 90 years old - and I was 44. I stuck to the same brand - accord - and I did notice that the side effects lessened, So before lockdown I would say to you that I had no side effects. During lockdown I could not get the accord brand. With a new brand, I did notice some aches in my fingers but not that much.
I did take a seven sees supplement for a few years, can't quite remember what it was but it was for joint relief. I also found that I exercised my finger joints regualrly at the gym - did think that other members might think what the helll am I doing, but did not care!
My advice would be to carry on a little bit longer and hopefully your body will get used to it.

P.s if you want the details of the supplement I took then ask xx
Hi there,
thanks for that I would like to know the name of the supplements so I could try that before giving up on the letrozole. I also do hand and finger exercises but doesn't really help much...
Hi
I've been on letrozole since Feb '20 and on 3rd brand which suits me just fine. I found I was really stiff in the morning and joint pain on an evening with first brand, got better with 2nd brand tried and now only slight discomfort in legs on a morning, need to warm up legs after sitting and slight pain in knees on an evening when rousing self from comfy sofa!
I do find I'm better with exercise, that I'm more limber and less knee pain and take glucosamine and cod liver oils which I think helps.
Also worth adding if longevity is your thing, that for some (and I'm one) that these tablets, that can be very annoying re side effects, can have quite an impact on your chances of reaching a ripe old age.
Good luck Smudgy.
Sam
Owww nooooo, I'm not liking reading this..... I didn't realise it can reduce life expectancy argh!!!
I'm thinking I need to look into this more.
Hiya, the supplements that I used to take are seven seas joint care glucosamine with omega 3 and chondroitin. It is pretty expensive but I did find it helped in the early days.

Hi Sam when you say it can impact on your chances of reaching a ripe old age do you mean in a positive or negative way???? My friend has been on letrozole for 9 years now and still going strong. I think a few people would be worried if it has a negative impact..
Also whilst on here has anyone used or know of anyone who have used a hemp based joint relief oil?
Thanks Smudgy
Hi Bramble22 and
I do mean longevity re letrozole and its a beneficial impact definitely. In my case it increases the chance of my surviving 15 years by 10% which I think is a good reason to pit up with minimal (in my case side effects.
Sam
Hi Yorkshire detector,
Thanks for clarifying that I was a bit worried that your life was shorter on Letrozole...anyway if anyone does know anything about hemp based products let me know...
Wow, sorry Sam I took that in the negative way, was a bit worried until I did a bit of research.
