After 2  operations in less than a month, first was lumpectomy and sensory node biopsy, second operation they widened the excision in the breast and removed more lymph nodes. Over both operations they removed 30 lymph nodes and 4 of those had cancer. All this after being diagnosed from my mammogram.

Yesterday I was informed that I'm more than likely cancer free just waiting for a CT scan first to confirm this.

I'm being referred to Christies Manchester for chemo is there anything I need to make sure I ask this consultant.

Has anyone got any tips that I should do to prepare for chemo.

What about hair coverings or wigs.

Hi, I am starting chemo thursday. The oncologist will explain everything in detail. The drugs, the schedule, the side effects (you may or may not get) They will give you anti sickness drugs and probably steroids. You will be asked to inject into your belly a drug to stimulate your white blood cells. You should also see the Oncology nurse who will explain it all and you can ask any questions. You will be told what to look out for side effects wise and when you should call them on the day and night emergency number. You should be asked if you want to see the wig service people, I was, or if you want to cold cap. Get used to drinking 3ltrs of water a day. I was told to avoid coffee, milk and spicey food. I have read its better not to eat the day before or day after, reduces sickness, but not sure about this. Keep a log of how you feel after each session and what you eat and drink, so you can avoid these if you feel sick. Ask about constipation meds and diarrhea meds, some are not recommended. I know it all sounds scary but better to be for warned. I have read about Evo nail which I am going to use. My onco said its best to try and exercise through out if you can, these people he finds do better with less side effects. You should be really well supported and informed, if you dont feel you are ask for more help /info. I hope some of this helps.  Big hugs Anna
