Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself.  Hello.

I have recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It’s been a whirlwind of a journey so far, within the last 3 weeks I have been prodded and poked talked to and past about several experts. I am feeling very overwhelmed. As well as the cancer I am type 1 diabetic which throws in a whole load of complications.  I have my surgery on Monday to remove the dreaded lump from my right breast and to honest Im anxious. Not sure if I need chemo yet but definitely having the radio therapy. My mind is spinning about everything and nothing all at the same time. Trying to stay positive, reading posts n this group is helping a lot. Thank you xx

Hi, it's great news that you are having the surgery so quickly.  Pointless to say try not to worry.  I had a lump removed in April, it was very straightforward.  You feel a bit rough afterwards, in my case the armpit was actually sorer than the breast.  Let the hospital staff take care of you, everyone is so nice. Radiotherapy is a bit weird, lots of big machines whirring and clicking, but you don't feel anything. By Monday evening you will have taken a huge step forward, so be kind to yourself and give yourself credit. I would also suggest a large gin & tonic on Sunday night!!!  Best wishes, hope it goes OK.

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the BC club. Sorry you find yourself here but hopefully you’ll find it a great place for support and shared experiences. I wanted to wish you well for tomorrow, the waiting is so horrible but soon the beast will be out and you’ll know more about what’s coming next. Lots of us here have found the waiting is in many ways worse than the actual treatment. It was definitely a relief for me to get the op over and done with and to know the rest of my treatment plan.
Sending love and gentle hugs, HFxx

  • Hi

Just wondered how your surgery went earlier this week? I do hope, like me, that it was painless and just annoying having a drain and not being able to do certain stuff around the house.

I recovered really quickly after mx and hope you do too.  Keep up the exercises, I still do them and had my mx in Feb, I can feel it when I don't do them and it will help get your hands over your head for the rads that you'll be having.

    Hi

Surgery went well. I’m very bruised and sore at the moment. I’m waiting for my results hopefully all will be good. I’ve spent the week in bed the codeine is knocking me sideways. I have a good support system in place so I’m not finding time to feel sorry for myself, and I’ve taken up knitting, love being creative again it’s been a while.
I am doing the exercises, slowly but probably not as often as I should, I will try harder, it bloody hurts lol.

Thank you.  Never thought about it like that.  My cancer has gone. That is a really good feeling.

It will get easier to do the exercises, I'm almost 5 years post surgery and radiotherapy.

  • Good to hear, glad its going well and great that you've rediscovered your creative side...I always intended to during my cancer treatment but other things always got in the way.  Persevere with those exercises.
