Hello, I'm 4 weeks into chemo and have lost my hair, which was expected and I'm ok with. However my skin on my scalp, being exposed feels weird and uncomfortable. I cover my head when I'm out, only to protect it but when I'm home I don't. Can anyone recommend something comfortable to wear on my head when I'm home, so I'm not constantly aware of how my scalp feels? Thanks x
Hello vicky39
My scalp was very sore after I lost my hair. I hated touching it and found it hard to sleep.
I got some chemo sleep caps off Amazon that helped and a pure cotton pillow case. I rubbed baby oil on my scalp alot which I found helped.
Hope this helps.

Hi my story on profile if you want to read .
I managed to get some bamboo beanies from amazon and bamboo sleep caps they were really comfortable . The bamboo keeps you cool in heat and warm in cold . I also used aqueous cream to keep my scalp moisturised . You do get used to it then forget altogether cos it's just you .
Glad to hear you're handling hair loss I was the same it was inevitable so excepted it . I finished chemo in Dec. Went into shielding bald in March and now hairdresser coming tomorrow to tidy up my hair .

I remember the beautician in my clinic recommending argan or almond oils to rub in. She also said to avoid baby products as they contain an addition which is important for new born scalps but not good for chemo patients. I'm only telling you what she said. I know a lot of people will happily recommend baby shampoo as it's gentle. I chose a paraben free product.....timotei pure.
As for what to wear....I had bamboo caps. They are an amazing product.....cool in heat, warm in the cold. To go out I added an inexpensive head band. I bought them to match my clothes and received a lot of compliments which boosted my morale.
Hope your treatment goes well.
Love Karen
Thanks so much for the advice, I'll definitely look into bamboo hats and the cream.
Congratulations on finishing chemo and I'm so excited for you to see the hairdresser xx
Thanks Julie, really appreciate the advice x
