Hi, any advice welcome

I had a reaction to one of the fec t drugs and now they decided to only give some of the fec t as I cannot be put on ward due to corona crisis., so will have reduced drugs on day unit.As it is a mop up  I believe ,I dont know whether to have it ,is it worth it at the moment.Any advice would help.(breast cancer, had op)

  • Hi was it the F part they are dropping? If it is then many hospitals dropped the F part a year or two ago,  and lots of us only have been given EC. If you're unsure about it take a look at thr Breast Predict website https://breast.predict.nhs.uk , enter your details and see the  percentage it adds.  A rule of thumb is if the gain is 1-3 % then it's not worth it as the possible side long term side effects outweigh the gain. 3-5% is a probable gain,  and over 5% is strongly recommended.

It's hard enough having chemo,  but the added worry of thr virus must be terrible! Could you check if your hospital (or another local one) has hot and cold areas for thr virus? I had a phone doctor's appointment yesterday and he mentioned if I needed A&E to go to a different one than usual as they'd sectioned the hospital, with totally staff on each side who didn't mix.
