Hi I used this site so much sadly when my lovely Dad was diagnosed with Mesothelioma back in 2007. He past away in 2008 . I made some wonderful friendships on here back then. We gave and recieved such comfort through the tough days and nights.we bonded together going through our own journey with cancer or our loved ones journeys with cancer. It really helped me back then.
I'm back here today, but this time It is for myself. I suffer severe asthma and i was sent to Addenbrookes Hospital to their severe asthma clinic they are very thorough there. I have had lung function tests x-rays, blood tests, bronchoscopy , biopsies and CT.All to see the condition of my lungs.
On Monday I got a phone call from my GP asking me if i had recieved a letter from my Consultant.I haven't as yet. She said my lung function test results were good. My lungs showed a low grade infection which would be treated with long term antibiotics. Thats fine I will just add them to all the other asthma drugs i'm taking. Then the GP said the CT had shown up a 13mm nodule in my breast. That really shook me I wasn't expecting that. I had my mammary gram done last summer and got the result in December saying all clear nothing to worry about. So today GP rings me back as she wanted to speak to Consultant as the CT doesn't actually say which breast nodule is in. can't get hold of Consultant as he is on holiday and his secretary is on self isolation so none the wiser on which side its on. She is making an urgent 2WW referral today. I got the Government covid 19 letter today saying I have to stay indoors for 12 weeks. There are cases of the corona virus in the hospital and sadly 2 deaths today at the hospital. I am worried about going to the hospital for tests but I'm also know that if it is a cancer the sooner you know the better.
Well if your still reading thank you , I'm sorry i have gone on. it is scary times all around. I hope you are all doing as good as you can be. Look forward to talking with you all.
Kind Regards
Clare
Countrygirlblues.....What a terrible shock.....Just when you learn one thing is manageable...another unexpectedly appears. But you are right.....finding the nodule means it can be treated. My own tumours( three small) were found on a mammogram in 2015 and although I did need chemo and radiotherapy, my mammograms have been clear since. Recently my sister also needed a lumpectomy. Her tumour was again found early and she has been told she only needs tamoxifen.
So, I hope all goes well for you over the next few weeks. It must be scary to be surrounded by the virus as you seek other treatments but I suspect no one is going to put you at any additional risk. If you have been told to stay at home, I'm sure safe conditions will be arranged for you to travel for any necessary tests. As soon as you know what you are dealing with.....you will be able to move forward.
In the meantime.....take care of yourself and stay safe.
Love Karen
Thank you Karen for your kind words. I can only wait and see and pray for a good outcome on all levels. X
Hi Clare /Countrygirlblues,
So very sorry you are needing this site for yourself!
I guess I can only echo Karen's wise words, stay as safe as you can and I really hope minimal gets found in the end; but be reassured that bc is very treatable, I'm still around 2 years on! (like a bad penny, me!)
Sending you a big hug xxx
