Hi,
I'm.really feeling quite low at the moment. I finished chemo on christmas eve having had accelerated chemo every 2 weeks. X 4 EC x 4 Paclitaxel. The last chemo made me lose most of my hair even though I wore the cold.cap. I now look like a cancer patient
My question is when will my hair start growing? It's not started regrowing anywhere on my body or head !
Hey! You have done really welll! I remember clearly looking in the mirror and thinking for the first time that I looked like I had cancer...I finished chemo a year ago. My eyelashes came back first....I used revitalash....not sure if it helped but within weeks I had some thick long lashes and using mascara for the first time in 6 months was fabulous! It did take a while for my hair to get going....last chemo was January and by Easter I had a covering - enough to feel comfortable going back to work (in a school). Since then it has come back thick and fast...no greyer than before....I had been warned I might go grey...but boy, it is curly! My hair was thick and poked straight...a year on I now have this mass of curls and no idea what to do with them!
My eyebrows have come back thinly, no armpit hair but hair on face, arms legs all came back....over time. Be patient...
By the summer, I am sure you will have a trendy pixie look!
Poor you! I've lost most of my hair despite cold capping during chemo, but now 6 weeks later have a 1" -2" layer of hair over my head as well as a thin layer of my old hair, which started growing during paclitaxel, The new hair started as white with a dark salt and pepper mix (never had black hair!), now turning darker meaning I've ombre hair, with darker roots, then lighter, and with an extra brown layer on my old hair! It's also wavy at the back, and no where else. My eyebrows are also growing back black, the middle to nose is now like before (apart from being black instead of dark brown), but I've still only a thin scattering of hair on the outside. My eyelashes are steadily growing back too. No hair anywhere else though! I am taking Letrozole which is known to thin hair, so also taking a biotin capsule daily. I'm back at work in a school in just overt two weeks and debating if I can go back with very short half dyed hair, or if o need to wear a wig, which I've only worn out twice so far as I wear a bamboo scarf and pull the remaining long bits to the front.
Hi, I didn't cold cap so was bald by day 15 after 1st chemo...but it started growing back during Paclitaxel and I had a good layer of fuzz by the end of chemo, although I had lost my eyelashes and most of my eyebrows. Three months on and I have a full head of dark hair with some grey mixed in...shorter than a pixie cut but not far off, plus thick black brows and lashes. Can't believe how quick it's all grown back...including the tache hairs which I'm plucking again, and 'down below' hair lol.
I sit and massage my scalp while I'm watching telly at night as I read that scalp massage is proven to work...plus it feels nice and relaxing. Also after my shower I apply ORS Olive Oil Moisturising Hair Lotion...infused with castor oil (found the range in Boots)...great for 'styling' and smells nice.
