Auxiliary clearance post mastectomy

Hello everyone

Long story short, following my eight neo chemo sessions not only had my very large c reduced significantly but no sign in my pre chemo node.  Had my mastectomy on 4th December & my surgeon agreed to a L1 clearance due to response.  Whilst my pathology shows complete success in breast, cells were detected in two nodes.  Discussion on radio or further surgery, for various reasons I am having further surgery on 29th January.  Naturally this is a disappointment as my mobility is great & I have healed beautifully.

It would be super useful to hear from anyone that has followed a similar path.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Debs, I’m nearly two weeks on from my left arm lymph node clearance. Had a double mastectomy in June, c spread to the left lymph nodes, spotted after sentinel node removal. Oncologist wanted chemo first so had 12 rounds of chemo which finished in November. I was starting to feel normal then had my operation on the 21st Dec, that always happens, as soon as you feel a bit better something else comes along :)

I’m actually fine, a bit of stiffness a bit of cording. I know I’ve got to do my exercises. It’s doable, you’ve done the hard bit already!

I start 15 rounds of radiotherapy in a few weeks, just as I start to feel “normal” again!!!

  • Oh thank you so much, I am working myself in to such a pickle over this! My surgeon is going in at end of my mastectomy site & apparently I have missed the window of opportunity & healed a little too well - law of sod!

I really appreciate your reply xx
