Hi everyone,
I've been dipping my toes into the site slowly, everyone is so amazingly supportive xxx
Bit frivolous but I love my makeup and wondered if anyone can recommend any amazing products, especially an eyebrow pencil etc with really good staying power?
Someone recommended MAC strobe cream to me which is Brilliant for faking a glow!
I've signed up for the look good feel better day but they only do it every 3 months and there is a waiting list. Wanted to treat myself to some new products tomorrow as my chemo side effects seem to have worn off touch wood!
Hi, I would add to this and advocate any decent make up area in any big store, so think of John Lewis, Debenhams as well as Boots.
good luck xxx

Hi
I had a l'oreal eyebrow pencil from the look good, feel better day which worked really well. I was quite upset when I lost my eyelashes, as a mascara wearing every day kind of girl - but no-one noticed!!! I said to people that I had lost my eyelashes and they leaned in for a closer look - they would not have noticed if I had not told them! x

Hi Cheebo
I've recently retired and hubby thought the £24 for Laura Gellar balance and brighten foundation was too much. So I tried, and discovered with foundation you get what you pay for.cheaper ones slide off ran out after a month or lasted a couple of hours only. Love Laura geller. It's a powder foundation, stays put and can survive a letrozole hot flush.
Eyebrow pencil I use is a Clarins, also been researched. They last forever after another economy discussion with hubby and they do different colours.
In a different life I was a buyer for a cosmetic department in a big store ,so I've tried loads and worn loads including some of the most expensive.
I'm still searching for the perfect mascara.
However best advice I can give is go into a big store on a quiet day, look at the consultants and choose one who's make up doesn't look too scary and ask her for a make over. Explain why I'm sure they'll help. It is their job. Clarins do make up lessons. They charge but quite often they give you samples to try yourself. Maybe it could be a Christmas present. The consultants, from other houses, sometimes have samples off foundations you can try if you ask. The worst that can happen is they say no, but after Christmas they have a very quiet patch and sales are scarce.
The very best lippy I have ever used is by Maybelline called Superstay 24 he colour. Try the colours on your hand from testers and you have to scrub it off the following morning. Lovely balm goes over the top. If you use the red in an evening you'll wake up still wearing it.
Enjoy.
P.s. Don't forget to help yourself to a nice big squirt of a perfume you fancy trying. Not on a piece of paper but on you.
Thanks ,
LOL husbands dont always get products do they. That must have been an amazing job!
I've never come across Laura Gellar but I can get bare minerals where I live and they do a similar sounding product so might investigate that. I use Guerlain foundation at the moment but find it's not sitting right since I had chemo. I'll go and investigate the clarins brow pencil,as eyebrow loss is the bit I'm really dreading. Going to treat myself to a wander round shops tomorrow xxx
Hi
It depends where you are. I don't think Laura Geller has got out of London but I get mine from QVC the shopping channel. The plus of balance and brighten is its a solid baked powder. So survived better in the handbag. Although I don't take it out. I load the brush that comes with it, it has a cap, and just take that. Less bulky and risk free. I like it because I can do it in the dark. If you want more cover you just keep going over with your brush till you have it as you want it. My friend and I reckon on three months for one compact. So £24x 4 is only£96 per year. That less than £2 a week. Use a primer she does one, and its fantastic. She does a balance and glow too which has the same finish as using the strobe.
Honestly I love it AND if you get it from QVC if you use it for a while and don't like it you can send it back and get a full refund. I'd like to try that in Boots. LOL
Happy shopping.
P.s. I think I'll have a quick browse.
Hi all
Please excuse a male for joining into this conversation, Boots has been mentioned a few times in this thread and would let you know that in most large branches their Beauty advisers have been trained by Macmillans on the needs of cancer patients.
You can find more information and how to book an appointment here, although it might be possible to get advice if you pop into a branch.

Well I had a lovely morning, I popped to the benefit counter as it was their eyebrow pencil I was quite keen on and the lovely lady turned out to be a consultant on the look good feel better days, who had had breast cancer herself! She gave me lots of tips, samples and a hug . Then I managed some last minute presents and a coffee and cake. Pretty tired by time I got home! I will investigate QVC next. So nice to do something girly and normal. Xxx
