Hi all.

I am due to have a PICC line in on thursday ready for my 2nd FEC of which I am a little anxious as not Been too great on the first session. A&E Sunday due to pain in calf and scan today to eliminate blood clots. Luckily I don't have blood clots but do feel like a pin cushion at present. I'm hoping I will not have worse side effects than just experienced but I am thankful to read all posts as a support. So thank you to you all.

I had EC. Not the F part of what you are on. I suffered like you are. It was awful. But it worked, and it does pass. A year on,  it seems like another world, another time, not real any more. After 4 x EC my mri showed no cancer remained. Complete response. Stick with it. It’s tough but it’s worth it. You can do this. Good luck. xxx

  • Hi

I'm not on FEC but EC my experience has been minimal and manageable  SE that's not to say my body doesn't know it's being messed about with .just lucky enough to not have anything  major , but I do know some have had a bad time .

The thing is we are all different the important thing is to listen to your body and rest when needed , but also work around your good days and not so good days . I keep a diary so I can see if there is a pattern although SE are very random . Most  people get a few strong days just before the next cycle so we make plans for some treats .

take care you will get thru it

  • And if it does become an issue to speak to your oncologist about having EC rather than FEC, as many have dropped the F.

Thank you. I am so pleased you have come through it. I will stick with it as I am also thinking of my 3 children. However, I am not a good patient and want to be able to continue as normal but side effects have prevented this. My family are very supportive and very understanding of which I am grateful for. Have you completed all your treatment?

Thank you, today has not been too bad just tired. PICC line tomorrow so hopefully that will go ok as feel like a pin cushion at the moment. I'm sure everyone on here feels or has felt like a pin cushion. Hoping the 2nd FEC will have less side side effects but we will see.

    Your support is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Hi

my story on my profile . I'm on second cycle of EC third should have been today but delayed because I'm full of cold . Chemo won't finish til Dec . Then  i have  3 weekly x18 of herceptin so here for long haul. Already had mastectomy beginning of a July .

You you will be fine but you will find a new normal ,personally Imtry to make sure I'm up and about each day . That works for me but I must stress we are all different and it is what works for you .

If you are getting problems then discuss it with your oncology team as Londonmum says a few people gave dropped the F .

my team withdrew Docetaxel from my plan because it would have had an adverse effect on me due to a prexcisting bowel problem .

take care keep posting on here for support

    Hi Margaret,

I'm sorry to hear you are full of cold and hope you are feeling better soon.. I get up early every day with the kids and try to stay active. I do rest when I feel the need. My chemo won't finish till February if all goes to plan but will continue with herceptin for either 12 or 18 months. Just getting ready to have the PICC line in today. Are you doing anything nice today.

  • Hope all goes well with your PICC line insertion. It will be worth it once it done and I'm sure you won't regret having it.

    Thinking of you.

  • Hi

Bloody cold is being stubborn and ganging around started last Thurs presume immune system gave up the fight .

Didnt know whether  to laugh or cry at the sight I Must have been at breakfast . Jumper and leggings ..check.. cardigan .. check

snood around neck and jersey skull cap ..check . RoflJoyJoyHead so cold since hair loss . I know I live up North but really !

Thinking of wrapping up .. lol and going to Whitby a fishing /seaside town an hour away may or may not get out of car for fish and chips . Depends on weather .

With Chemo I usually rest up day one and two if steroids allow . After that I try to stay in control and be active with rests in between As body let's me know.

We both retired and spend a lot of time in Cumbria at our caravan ,at the moment this is difficult because of chemo .There is no A&E close to van to tend to go over after day 15 of cycle when feeling stronger .Didnt work this time came down with cold Joy

So we exploring our local area a bit more . When I'm still fatigued or just plain tired we go to one of our local market towns park car in middle then have a walk . That way I can get back to car easily if I need to .

For Me It really is about finding a new normal cos I find that healthier than striving to find the old me . I'll be in treatment til at least Jan 2021 then possible infusions on 6 monthly basis ongoing .But at moment just try to look at one step at a time . Felt not to bad yesterday so baked all day for xmas ..in freezer now .

    Have a good day
