Just thinking ladies, as we are all going through much the same journey that we should have a thread on here for crafts. I am sure there are lots of you knitting, crocheting, sewing etc to keep the dreaded side effects at bay and help us cope day to day.
I personally knit and have posted on here some of my knitting. Would be nice to see/hear what other people do. We could share pictures, hints and tips as well
So I will start with a couple of things I have done in the last few days.
This is my slouch hat that I finished on Friday night. Will be wearing it for the first time today!!
This was on the needles saturday night ......
And finished saturday night. A little headband/earwarmer for my granddaughter.
I am now off to have my PICC line inserted ready for 2nd round of chemo tomorrow (!!!!!!):)
Hope to see lots of pics when I come back!!
Have a good day everyone xx
Right, before you all say.... 'owwww its Whats Happened' with her long boring post, I'm keeping this short and simple.....
You ladies are amazing, wow what handy work you have done Snowys Mum I love the kaki cable jumper and the colour too - the teddy is brilliant, very clever.
I love the crochet blanket, its brilliant.
I so wished I could knit or crochet - very clever ladies (are any of you ladies left handed?)
There - I am stopping now - short'ish hahaha xxxx
Haha...thanks ...there are some really funny ones out there....and my old Night Sister (who was so kind to me when I as first diagnosed)emailed me yesterday to go to a “knit and natter “with her next week....she doesnt know it yet but I am going to present her with my challenge....she is a brilliant knitter and can russle something up in half an hour without a pattern.Meanwhile, being a little shy to model it,I will put my snood here which I knitted at Christmas...when I did the seam I made it a lttle lower at the back and so I can pull it up over my nose...here it is....(I might make an indoor one)
You ladies are so clever doing knitted knockers...I love mine...it gives me confidence and keeps me warm !! I have been doing bits of everything today as watched Winter Olympics in background...so done a bit more tapestry(oh thank goodness I have started a different colour tiday!!),and looking up something to take with me to do at knit and natter on Monday...And I took a notion to do a henna pattern on the back of my back-scatcher which I had for Christmas....“have nothing in your house which is neither useful or beautiful”...I am more crafty than knitty really....
Morning Ladies.
Oh I am a happy bunny to have found this thread/group/link. I love crafting, mainly knitting, crocheting and sewing. Had a passion for cross stitch and spent enormous amount of money on it over the years but just before Christmas I got rid of it all. People don’t like receiving cross stitch pictures or appreciate the hours of work that goes into it. I dont have the wall space to hang any more. Even small cross stitch items are not really wanted. It seemed a shame to have all this cross stitch materials not being put to good use so I gave it all to a vicar friend of mine for his ladies craft group at church.
I live on my own in a village and don’t drive. There isn’t any craft group to join and would love to go to a knit and knitter or stitch and bitch group and be with like minded people.
My latest creations have been 4 large pouffes which I was asked to make for a friends daughter who is getting married in a tepee in October for the guests to sit on. Don’t ask!! Anyway I finished them last night. I agree to make them just before being diagnosed last August and to be honest I didn’t think I would be able to do them as i had just one or two other things on my mind then. Well Im a stubborn so and so and don’t like letting people down and as I was feeling better I got crochet hook out and off I went. Mind you I’m glad they are finished as by the 4th one it was getting pretty boring.
My latest project is a knitted dog coat for a charity that my friend linked me too. I would love to knit knitted knockers but the 3 UK groups I’ve seen via link dont seem to be taking volunteers. Maybe I’ll have to knit nose warmer instead
Well I have waffled on too long and need a coffee. Just love this thread and so nice to be among like minded crafters with my sense of humour as well. That’s all I’m saying about that but you have given me some giggles.

Hi Edwina. Do you send your knockers to a charity or something? Oops, that doesn’t sound right but you know what I mean lol. Did you knit on DPNS or 2 straight needles and lastly where did you find the pattern please. Saw one on the USA site but didn’t know if the UK are different. Sorry for all the questions.
Love Frances xxx
Hi kumihimo No problem with the questions.
I'm thinking of taking them to my chemo when I go, I think it would be nice to leave them there for people to take who need them (thats if they will let me but I think they will). The idea is to do pairs and then let people decide if they want one or 2!!
I knitted on straight needles but on the Knitted Knocker official site (yes american) they do ALL, straight, DPNS, magic loop, crochet etc.
I downloaded the pattern and after a few rows was so, so easy. I have also used the recommendations on the pattern such as over stuffing the knocker and leaving a kind of drawstring so the person can re-arrange or remove stuffing untill comfortable.
I am going to match this one and then have a go at DPNS on another pair and see if there is any difference!!
Here's the link for the pattern I used:

Ask me anything I really don't mind!!!!
Take care
