Pain, 10 weeks post

I'm sorry that I'm constantly seeking reassurance, but I don't know whether my level of pain should be like this so many (10) weeks post treatment.

I've not needed painkillers hardly at all until this week and now one side inside my bottom passage is so sore again even taking them regularly.

When I saw my oncologist a couple of weeks ago she was really pleased with the healing and even managed an internal exam. But I was in nothing like the pain I am now. Do you think I should try and see someone if it continues after the weekend, or is this all par for the course?  It just doesn't seem logical to be so sore again after feeling ok and not having this specific pain before.

It's really getting me down and making me worried about whats going on.

  • Sorry to hear you are still having pain, I am now 6 years post treatment, but remember having a flare up at about 4 months post. I was so sore that my consultant wouldn't examine me. The radio therapy continues to work for a long while after completion of treatment and this could be why you are sore. I was prescribed Flamazine which really helped. Even now my bowels are a bit unpredictable , I take Loperamide daily but still get the urgency. The skin around the anus is very fragile and sometimes bleeds a little and gets sore, Cavalon cream is good for this. My oncologist told me right from  the start that I would never be the same "down there" However its a small price to pay. Do you have a specialist nurse that you can get some advice from. The one I had was excellent, nothing to much trouble .. hope you feel better soon
