Hi everyone I spose I’m looking for some extra support advice to help and prepare me for my palliative care .
I was diagnosed endrometrial cancer October 17 after surgery in January 18 came chemotherapy 6 cycles January 19 after several scans told no evidence of disease March 19 told its back and incurable but chemotherapy will help then last week told it’s spread to my bones spine and given months to live but no cure just carry on planned chemotherapy and pain relief. I’ve been assigned a Macmillan nurse who I will meet on Monday.
as you can imagine me and my hubby are still in shock and adjusting to the inevitable, but sometimes it’s nice to hear from people who are in my situation and can relate how I feel.
thank you
iris
hi
I don't have any advice, sorry, but I can see you've posted before and had some support here
Perhaps try the incurables group?
I found talking to someone in almost the same situation as me very comforting when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, several of my daughters friends mothers had been through it and I started walking around the park with one in particular and there's just a different level of conversation you can have with someone in the same or similar situation.
This group is more likely to be of help for your husband finding the best ways to support you.
I'm not a massive fan of rigorous segmentation of these groups, I've been a carer, I've been a patient, I've had to endure chemo, I've had friends die, not just from cancer, I have dwelled on and considered my own end of life care.
And I do find it therapeutic to discuss things on here.
Have you considered what might be a 'good death' that was a topic we discussed recently in The Room.
Some people don't like talking about it, my husband refuses to acknowledge that he will die one day, maybe not yet but one day.
hugs
Carolyn
