My husband has been referred to the palliative care team. What can we expect to happen?
Hi elephant222, I'm sorry to hear that your husband's about to go onto palliative care. The treatment varies a lot so it's difficult to say what will happen. Much depends on how well/unwell he is, sometimes chemo is used, or radiotherapy, it really depends on the individual. That said I know you said he's been suffering with side effects so those treatments might not be an option. I imagine the team will assess his needs first. How is he at the moment?
Love and hugs,
LoobyLou

My hubby is now receiving palliative care and despite our initial fear and worries it has been really good for us both. They have arranged his pain relief and some radiotherapy. He also had eight days in the local hospice whilst everything was sorted out. The staff there recognised my need for a shoulder to lean on too and so we both feel very supported and much less anxious now. I do hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply. He is very, very tired and has a lot of problems with his bowel, he is hoping palliative can help with these problems to improve quality of life. The oncologist has prescribed steroids with seem to help a bit with fatigue but has made my husband rather excitable and he doesn't stop talking! I may go nuts if we have to self isolate.
