Hi all,

Just want to get off my chest really the fact that I have worked so bloody hard to keep my other half fit and well despite a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis 5 yrs ago and now it all seems to be for nothing with the advent ofcovid 19.  I can't find antibac for him, people lack basic hygiene that impacts him - seriously just think and spare a thought for others.

  • Hi , I have been in situations where people have become terrifyingly angry just to get 'there' first. It's crazy; who needs 6 packs of 24 loo rolls? One woman punched another so she could fill her own trolley. It's a sort of return to animal like behaviour and, no, they don't seem to think of others at all.

As for antibacterial, I couldn't find any either, so I made my own. The recipe can be found easily online, it mixes very easily and can be decanted into small bottles. But you have to be very careful to keep the ingredients out of the way of children.

  • Hi Newbie

As if wasn’t bad enough caring for your OH with a terminal illness, we now face COVID19 and social distancing for three months whilst trying (and failing) to source everything from hand gel, toilet rolls, food and medication ... all with the added knowledge that if you get ill there is no one to look after him, and if he gets the virus it’s game over .... if I sound stressed, it’s because I am, and angry and upset and every other adjective you can think of ...

take a deep breath, rant over, you CAN do this because you just have to!

    Take care

  • Hi, in the same position looking after my hubby with terminal cancer. I had to take deep breaths in a supermarket last week because of the behaviour of others. What I wanted to do was scream out loud and say I am trying to keep my husband alive and all you care about is f****** toilet rolls and emptying everything off the shelves you selfish b*******. What I actually did was go and sit in the car and sob because anything we needed wasn't there. Deep breath drove home, hubby asked if I wS OK and I said I am just tired.

What we are having to deal with on top of our loved ones health is extraordinary and we should all be proud of ourselves because we are brave and doing our best.

    Hugs to you all xxx

  • Well said . I have been picturing various scenarios from not being able to get all Bills meds to me getting the virus and not being able to look after him .That on top of Bills rollercoaster ride of various symptons .Just when he has a couple of weeks of stability something else occurs . But we will do what we always do cry scream swear then just get on with it .In a funny sort of way we carers are probably quite well equipped to deal with the virus we are used to facing the unknown .Dealing with uncertainty and  being anxious and scared .Basically we have  the coping skills to get thru it and each other .Good luck everyone and big hugs x
