    Painful Eating After Radical Radiotherapy
Hello, my name is Helen and I am fiance to Bob who has Lung Cancer and has just come through the side effects of radical radiotherapy. During that time eating was absolute agony for him and in his words "like swallowing razor blades". I am going to post on here all the tips, information and recipes I found out to help him eat 2200 calories a day when on some days he couldnt even swallow his own spit. Am off to work now but will be back with some helpful ideas on how to boost the calories with...

    a breast cancer break through
Isnt it amazing, now I am one of those annoying people who are always mouthing off about never having flu or colds and i dont. Just read today in the paper that a Gene has been found which fights flu but may also cause breast cancer. Which is what i have/had and it goes on to say the gene is vital to antibodies that combat such infections as the common cold, but it can turn deadly if set off by the hormone oestrogen! I am on arimidex now for the next 5 years. It was interesting and exciting to...

    STOMACH DOING SOMERSAULTS
I'm trying to prepare myself mentally for the op tomorrow - can't wait till it's all over, hoping they don't find traces of it in the other glands they are taking out. Fingers crossed. I can just see the light at the end of the tunnel - two hurdles over one more to go (radiotherapy)

    The struggle
Oh well I suppose its going to be a long long road road to travel. You feel the anxiousness as they go through the op [what a horrible horrible feeling] waiting 9 hrs from start to finish. Then you feel elated that they came through this alive. So helpless seeing him on all these tubes in intensive care, but they all gradually have been removed one by one and he has then been moved onto a surgical ward. I thought yes we are on the road to recovery [ I suppose I am just wanting things to happen too...

    My lovely Dad
My lovely Dad has been given about 6 weeeks to live .He has bladder cancer which has spread to his adrenal glands, tummy and lungs. He is such a proud and loving old gentleman of 84. We have such a special bond and I am finding it so difficult to accept he will be gone soon. I don't want him to suffer either so its like a double sided coin. I don't want him to die but I don't want him to live in pain either To add to my heartache my husband has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer which has...

    Update on Mum
Hi everyone thought I would give an update on mums condition. On Tuesday we take mum back for her first appointment since her surgery in December, we don't expect very good news either, she has jaundice now and has lost 7lbs in 5 weeks, she also suffers from dementia and it has escalated since her surgery, (we are fighting two illnesses here and the dementia is actually worse to deal with than the cancer). Last Saturday mum ripped out all her tubes from her neck, she told us she hated us and during...

    breslow/clark scale
hey! Just a quick question to see if any1 can help me out here! My melanoma was measuring 0.63mm on the breslow scale&he dermatologist told me this was really good in terms of prognosis and that they would do the wide excision and that would be that, however when i went to see the surgeon he said that, infact, the melanoma was a clark scale 4 which was unexpected as it was so thin on the breslow scale this was his reason for doing the sentinel node biopsy! All these scales and numbers etc are confusing...

    awaiting results!
I am currently awaiting results of a wide excision and a sentinel node biopsy that i had done after being diagnosed with melanoma. I had the op on 23rd dec and have an appointment with the consultant on the 20th jan which feels like a life time away! I have a 3 year old daughter who has kept me positive through all this and has been my reason for getting out of bed every day! I cant sleep at night(hence the reason i am on here 2am!)I guess its just with everything going through my head!I have...
