My mum was diagnosed with incurable cancer in July last year. Every month we're getting to spend with her feels special and is definitely a gift.
She's stubbornly independent, traits which I definitely take from her! She's tired but getting bored of sitting in the house so I decided to take her out for a wee coffee to a garden centre. It felt nice to be able to spend time with her, just the two of us. Half way through a bite of cake she suddenly started to talk about her treatment. That's when...
Hello blogees (is that even a word? I might have made it up )
Just thought I'd take five minutes to update you all on the latest happenings concerning the Bastard. Seems a perfect moment to do it as the children are all still asleep and Mr H is occupied on the PlayStation.
The last fortnight has been hard. I won't lie. Things are starting to go wrong with my body. Nasty urinary tract infection, bowel issues and pain. The pain just keeps on getting worse. Those people out there who suffer with...
I had a mastectomy on my left side and 19 lymph nodes removed, 1£5of which were positive for cancer. IV had a bit of pain under my left arm which I was expecting but today whilst mosturising IV came across a lump about the size of a pea half way down my inner upper arm. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue after lymph removal ?
On 10th November I went to my GP. She examined my breasts and wasn't happy with the skin texture which she referred to as tethering. She referred me to the breast clinic, as she said, under the 'two week rule'. I was extremely surprised to come home to a letter the next day asking me to attend the breast clinic the following Monday 14th November. During the GP appointment I discussed the fact that three years previous, I had been referred to breast clinic with breast pain. I was actually diagnosed...
I'm 47 years old. I have three children aged 24, 22 and 14. The youngest two still live at home. I also live with my partner of ten years Mark, who moved in with us around a year ago.
In January 2016 I was successful in gaining a promotion, and a company car. I'd shied away from applying for the promotion for several years but felt like it was now the right time. During 2016 I had spent my time applying myself to getting my branch working as I wanted it, having had no effective manager for...
Saturday 21st January.
Today has been a pleasant day, we met a friend at the beach and then walked along the coast path with the dogs high above the sea looking down and along the cliffs and beaches, it was glorious. We had a lovely pub lunch. The two hour walk was easy, it was very hilly at one point. It was reassuring that I managed the walk just as well as I did before I was diagnosed with cancer. We came home and have been lazy all afternoon. Tomorrow we have our holiday makers leaving...
We did it we went away for 5 days to Wales in the wilds by the sea when I say the sea we just walked out the back door and there it was to say the view was unbelievable is a understatement
The Holiday was a totally unexpected one.....Hubs was a Chauffeur before he took time off to look after Me! I was left unable to use my left side after an operation to my heart.... I'm fine now meds and determination to walk and use my left side again with Hubs massive amounts of help
Anyway one of his Ex co...
By the end of November 2012 we had a date to go and see the specialist. My daughter by now had a number of lumps around the neck area and the back of her head and of course the painful lump on the back of her head was getting bigger.
All four of us attended the first few appointments until our eldest couldn't cope with it and decided not to come. We initially saw a lady surgeon who was very blunt with my daughter's prognosis, not that this was a bad thing. We attended the Marsden for a PET scan which...
Thursday 20h January 2017
Well I'm home after ten days away at my daughters, I am missing my grandson so, so much but I feel very happy that he's settled and my daughter is coping really well and enjoying being a mum. She needed me there at that time and I got there, even with all this madness going on I was there and I enjoyed every single second.
We did normal things, we went shopping with the baby, went to cafes, we laughed a lot and cried a little and reminisced together, precious...
I had a meeting with my colorectal surgeon on Tuesday. Good and bad news (as always). My chemotherapy, a combination of Folfox and Cetuximab, has had excellent results on the tumours in my liver but have not been as beneficial on the tumours in my bowel. They have shrunk but not to the same extent.
Anyway, due to the positioning of the tumours in my bowel (they’re quite a distance apart) and due to family history of my Dad dying of bowel cancer I have been recommended to have a pan-proctocolectomy...
