Week 1 Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy (Chemoradiation)
Hi I hope you find my experiences helpful. Try to ignore the minor typo's, i am usually finicky about them myself but these days find it a little tedious if the spell checker doesn't get involved!  A little about me. I am Sally and live on a na...

    Camping during chemo
At the start of chemo, which is an age ago now, I remember asking my oncologist about travelling and some weekends away.  Looking back, I think she thought I was bonkers, but I do recall her saying that she would not recommend staying in a hotel...

    I can mash potatoes
I certainly have not felt like twisting, but mashed potatoes have literally kept me alive this week. It’s been 10 days since cycle 2 and fuck me. That was rough. What I thought I was prepared for from cycle one was nothing. Mini cheddars were g...

    This is all very new

My husband hadn’t been feeling well for a while, nothing serious , just a bit off. At the end of May he contacted the doctor (a telephone consultation) over stomach discomfort. Doctor prescribed a indigestion medication. He didn’t get any better so went to A&E and was admitted immediately with a very bad liver infection. He was treated for a week with antibiotics and is recovered. While he was in hospital he had a scan and the results showed gallbladder cancer which had seemed to have spread to liver...

    Facing the consequences
I’ve had loose stools on and off for a number of years now, but put it down to stomach sensitivity having had the surgery for my Dukes B colon cancer back in 2008. However a few weeks ago I started having weird bowel motions, weirder than usual...

    What a week
Cycle 5; Day 9. How quickly I have become accustomed to counting the days in this way. And what a week. Whilst I managed the dreaded Day 4 quite smugly, Day 5 was another matter. Monday woke me up, slapped me round the head and kicked me down the sta...

    Feeling traumatised by cancer
Hi, figured I’d share my story from start to finish just so I can offload as I have not done so at all since my dad passed away just short of a year ago.  I am now a 23 year old girl from Manchester, my close family consisted of my parents...

First radiotherapy sessions and sorry what’s this thing called a workout!?
After waiting for wait seems like forever I had my first radiotherapy session on Tuesday. I thought I might be a bit nervous but after chemo and the operation I’m now just used to medical appointments and procedures, I’m not sure if that&...

Here's what you need to know - Community Improvements

A beach with the words 'community improvements'

On Tuesday 29th June, we’ll be releasing the first of our improvements into the Community. You can read more below about how this will affect the site on Tuesday afternoon, and what changes you’ll see once the release has been done.

On May 5th, we attempted to go live with these changes. Unfortunately, we encountered some unforeseen issues which meant we weren’t able to go live at that time. Since then, we’ve been working really hard behind the scenes to get this right. We hope you...

Following my ‘2 week’ emergency referral to an ENT specialist made in August, the letter finally arrives inviting me to an appointment on 6 November. This will be for an endoscopy, so I arrange the time from work, not really fancying tryi...
