It's no walk in the park...

... but then no-one ever claimed it would be.

A week into my first cycle of chemo and this is the story so far:

Last Tuesday the clinic was running 90 mins late so it was some time before I was set up with the cannula to receive my dose of Oxaliplatin. My veins did not want to play ball so it was a case of third time lucky before this happened successfully. I had a heat pack which makes it less painful, but this cooled down over the afternoon (the actual chemo delivery takes a couple of hours or...

    In limbo

I think this best describes how i am feeling now.
I didnt sleep much last night thinking about how today would go and what it would feel like to go to the hospital for his last session.
It has become so familiar to us now, drop the children off at mum's, battle to find a parking space in the stupidly small car park then wander up to the Chemo day unit where as always we are sent to the day ward and Rich picks a bed where we then wait to be seen.

As usual his assigned nurse Tracy distracted us...

Is this the end or just the beginning?

Is this the end or just the beginning?

I guess this is a significant week in our family.  Tuesday (hopefully) sees the last session of chemo for Rich at our local hospital.  Everyone sees this as a good thing, they see this as the end but you know what, for us it is just the beginning, just another step in this long journey.
We (although i should say "he") still have to face the spinal chemo, which on our last visit we learnt would be 4 treatments, one a week for a month, a tough tough month...

    30 Things For Turning 30 #2

So number 2 on my list of 30 things to do to celebrate turning 30 was a weekend in London and a show...Dirty Dancing!! This is my absolute favourite film of all time and I have never been to a show before.  We travelled to London by train on Saturday which was really nice as we both got to relax on the journey.  We got to our hotel around 3pm and it was very nice indeed, just off Russell Square and a short walk away from the Aldwych Theatre.  I knew we were going for the weekend so managed to book dinner...

    Back waiting

    Hi!

Where does time go? Thats my radio and chemo finished,so back on the waiting game. Been told about 4-6 weeks then MRI and PET scan. Never had a pet scan but I'm sure it won't be that bad. If tumour has shrunk enough I should get surgery about 4 weeks later. Hoping it works second time around. This time it will be time to kiss my bum goodbye and get a permanent Stoma (NO REVERSAL). So hoping radio has done it's job.

    A Long Time

Its been a long time since I have posted on this site.

It is with a lot of sorrow that on Monday 24th January my mum passed away.

The full blog can be read at the following link

    http://mumslungcancer.blogspot.com/

I hope that the blog has helped at least one person through our journey.

My grief now, is a personal matter so I wont be adding to the blog now.

Many thanks for those people who have supported us over the past 8 or so months.
