    The first FEC
The day finally dawned when I was to have my first chemo!!!! Oh the excitement of it! Emmet, our youngest, was really playing up this morning and leading up to saying he didn't want to go to school. We managed to jolly him out of it - which was great because it meant that Brendan could stay at my appointment with me. Half way to the hospital we got a call from the school saying Emmet needed his asthma inhallers and didn't seem to have them with him..... so Brendan dropped me off and headed home...

    Thank you everyone
Hi Everyone and thank you all for your messages of support. John still being sick and feel at my wits end - think I will just find a field somewhere and scream out loud as I am screaming in my head at the moment. Medical team in community have been absolutely fab and doing everything they can to help John. Am just worried about dehydration as this will mean John will have to be admitted and he absolutely does not want to go in, stubborn bugger! Anyone out there have any remedies for the sickness...

shaky start this morning - bit better now
Had a very shaky start to the day this morning. Had only been up for about half an hour when the tears came and wouldn't stop. Cried solidly for about an hour. But feel a bit better now. Really touched by some of the comments after my rant yesterday. And everyone was so right in what they said about people's support. I definitely think that going through bereavement, illness, hard times in whatever shape or form makes you a more compassionate, courageous person. Far too many people to thank all...

    Just getting on with it
My husband has now done 2 rounds of Docetaxol, which seemed to have improved his swallowing again. But he is so tired all the time and the "chemo head" effect seems to be kicking in. I think its the cumulitive effect have already done 6 rounds of the other one. He finds it really hard to concentrate and I feel him driffting off when I talk to him. The hair has started to drop out, but he did have really thick hair to start with so still has quite a bit left. Anyway just hanging in there!!!...

    Where are all my friends?
For people who read my last couple of blogs, they will know that my son was diagnosed on Monday with a large (11cms) tumour in his left side near kidney and bowel. We saw the surgeon yesterday, and the date for the op is 29th June. It will be a massive op - and we all came out of the hospital feeling pretty hopeless. But today, I want to talk about support. Now there's one thing about me that can be good - but can also be bad. And that is that I'm very honest (but not rude) hate bullshit, hypocrisy...

The Blood Donor team didn't want me - but everyone else had made their own plans!
I knew today was going to be bad – and I was right. Not really bad bad – and not all day – the worse was the last part of this afternoon. Well, really only the bit at half past six, when the Donor Carer at the Blood Donor session told me that I would never – ever – be able to give blood again. I suppose I can understand the reasons why – they don’t really have a grip on whether cancer spreads through blood transfer – they don’t know a successful way of killing any cancer cells in donated blood ...

    Getting wiggy with it!
The head shaving went very well. I was really worried that it would be a very emotional experience and actually it wasn't at all. It was fab! My hairdresser took me upstairs to the training area of the salon so that we were on our own and I swear he must have spent 2 hours doing it! He took such good care of me.... First he cut, then he shaved and got closer and closer each time. He is so lovely - he then went out and bought a razor and foam at the local chemist and did a wet shave three times...

    life after chemo
Well, all completed on the chemo front- 6 cycles of carbo/taxol all done, went to have the trial drug (ICON 7- avastin) on wed, and the results of the ct scan that I had on mon. all came back clear- CA125 is back down to 8, and all in all a good day, couldnt have the avastin as my bloods were rubbish, they wanted to give me a transfusion, but have had enough of having stuff put in my arm, so have opted for the natural way- lots of green leafy veg for me! feels weird (again!) as the consultant said...
