  • Caring for a lung cancer patient - late stages
Thought it was the end last weekend ...

I'll try and write this daily, hope it helps. I had lots of problems with basic stuff I couldn't find the answers too - this is my first experience of caring.

Mum started hallucinating on Saturday night ... really weird stuff, it was terrifying as we thought she was close to death. No MacMillan support at weekends and we won't ring GTD as the one time we did ring them the horrid doctor had mum in tears. Monday morning we rang MacMillan to be told our nurse was on holiday, so rang GP...

    Going back to work.

    Morning all...

Having been off for most of this year poorly. My currect sick note ends at the end of this month, which will be right when treatment begins. (i say hopefully)

However i feel pretty good in my self so tomorrow i am at the doctors to see if she will sign me back on to work.

Work have been pretty good and have said that they are happy for me to go back, but I have to be assessed by their doctors to see if they will allow me to work through treatment, and if needs be they will be...

    Tough guy holding on

    Just a brief update.

Pat is holding on and is able to nod, head shake, hand squeeze and knows we are there. He has had a Physio assessment and they have agreed for OTs to start some very basic rehab like washing his face with his unaffected hand. Although his outcome may be poor, because he has good understanding of his situation I think this is appropriate to give him some quality of life, for however long that is. I cannot think of anything worse than knowing what is going on and feeling that...

    Aching All Over

This household is wiped out. First it was sickness, came out of nowhere and now it's full blown colds with horrible coughs. On Sunday went to see my Aunt, she has a headache she can't get rid off and can't sleep. Grief is strange. Grandma's bungalow is at the corner of my Aunt's street, you can see it looking out of her windows. I stood there for ages on Sunday, I could see my Grandma waving at me and smiling. It was lovely to see that in my mind. I wished it was still for real mind you. My Dad can...

  • Roland Ratso - the aftermath; A Picko update
The insensitivity of those who know better.............

Those of you who don't know, my mate Picko is terminal with cancer caused by Von Hippel Landau disease which is a gentic illness that causes cancers to kick off all over. One year ago last Christmas he was back in the joint with one of his episodes and finished up on an ear nose and throat ward because that was the only bed they had available. One of the nurses said to him "Don't know what you are doing here - you are terminal and should be in  a hospice."  Charming.

    The consultant...

    Endoscopy
Morning all... I received my appointment for my endoscopy this morning and wanted some advice, the thought of swallowing the camera is horrific, and swayed with the sedation.. However got my info leaflet as well, now if I be a big brave girl it should last about 10 mins. However if I have sedation ill be there about 2 hours. 10 min procedure or hang around for 2 hours while sedation wears off. I'm swaying for the be a big brave girl and I'll be in and out in 10 mins. Not going...

    What next??

So my mood last night was pretty doom and gloom after my not so better other half was an incensitive A&*%hole!!!

Anyhow all forgiven, and this morning i go off to the docs with him!!

He suffers from high blood pressure and is medicated for this.  He is an absolute swine when it comes to him taking his medication and to be honest if he could get away with it, he plain and simply wouldnt, which he quite often does.Anyhow after all the comotion with me this year, once i was right i gave him a good...
