    Surgery
My left mastectomy and lymph ode clearance was on the 2nd August. I decided to go into hospital the morning of my surgery rare her than the evening before. I am so glad I did, I was beginning to get in a terrible state by the it e we arrived at hospital. My husband was with me and I was absolutely petrified, to be honest I was more scared of the anaesthetic than the procedure, the idea of the cancer being removed was a relief! I was soon told that I was first to theatre so my surgeon and her team...

I know chemo is my friend but today i still have that disgusting taste in my mouth, i've had to drop the painkillers as I reacted badly, I still have stomach ache and now nausea.  My mouth is getting better but the same cold sores are visiting again. and sleep is apparently visiting someone else!

  • My thoughts and feelings
    Another day
Yesterday's tests were very straight forward and gave me a look at the day care unit I will be in on Monday. Today is a CT scan 6pm for a 7pm scan. I went on my scooter yesterday but Sue (my wife) is going to collect me so it's the bus today. It's about an hour away by bus. I'm really not happy about Mondays day care operation. The idea of someone cutting into my neck ain't great. The fact that previous operations years ago were not great is probably why.

  • Bowel cancer - my journey
3 months on from bowel cancer...

Wow what a journey it's been.  I was first diagnosed with bowel cancer on June 13th - a day I'll never forget.

After months of stomach pain (but nothing much else) i'd never thought I'd end up being a cancer patient.  Just about everything else went through my mind - IBS, Crohns, irrritable bowel, gallstones but never the 'C' word.  Even my consultant was convinced it was nothing too sinister but no, cancer it was.

And so the journey began in a whirlwind of activity. More scans...

  • Hi Mummy
    Oh My God!!!!!
Hi Mummy Oh God I know I only seem to write to you when I'm feeling low and I dont write to you when things are going well but God I could do with a cuddle from you right now. Everything is going to pot, Baz is texting me all the time which scares me somewhat because I get the impression he wants to come back but I don't want him back and I don't want to be in a put position where I have to hurt him. I know that by not telling me the truth about how he was feeling hurt and upset me but Im not the...

    Quiet day

Had a bit more sleep last night, mainly because I was able to lay in a bit today

I normally deal with things quite well I think, yet I find myself just sitting here staring into space. I’m scared, I’m worried I’m .......................... (What am I)

This afternoon I have some pre op tests planned

Tomorrow evening I have a CT scan, it’s at 7pm. What a crazy time but I assume they have staff working in these departments all the time so why not make use of them

    Orientation
In my last post I said 'under my left arm', nutter, I meant right arm. I blame all this on the legal chemicals I was given!!! Sorry

    Help from joycee
Thank you Joycee, That was a great help, I also got similar advice from admin so thanks to them also. I have an appointment tomorrow with physio at the hospital. Ever since my op 20 months ago I have had trouble with my right shoulder. The op took a lot longer than expected due to the calcification of the lung caused by the radio therapy. As the lung was removed from high up under my left arm this must have put a lot of strain on the rotator cuff. So off we go to war...

Not so bad this time round! Take heart...

Its now day 7 after my 5th chemo (Docetaxel) and i am so encouraged its better than the last one where I literally wanted to die!

The limb pain is there but being numbed by painkillers, the mouth is just starting to get sore, and the numbness in my toes isnt scary once you know it wont last.  feeling down is still a bugger because trying to hang onto perspective is hard!

Also if one more person says 'hey you look fantastic, so well' when I feel so poorly and its just the makeup I will crumple and...
