I saw the oncologist yesterday, but the appointment didn't produce anything conclusive. The news in detail was neither better nor worse than what I'd already been told. It is - so far as is known - cancer of unknown primary, with metastases in the chest and neck lymph nodes. They're going to do an ENT endoscopy (a look to see if anything's hiding in my sinuses) but meanwhile I'm booked for a few cycles of a standard catch-all chemotherapy regime - cisplatin and docetaxel - starting in a fortnight...
I have not had a full night’s sleep since Friday, I wake at around 2am and so much going round in my head I’m not really going back to sleep.
Today is my 1st day back to work after my diagnosis.
Questions from everyone, I have enough of my own!!
My diagnosis isn’t really complete so I don’t know what’s happening myself.
That said it’s nice to know your friends at work are concerned about you.
I’m thinking of my wife a lot as I know she holds stuff in and this...
On Sunday 2 September I braced myself for grief. From a few days before I knew what was coming. Six months since he took his final breath.
I lit all his candles, and I kneeled down in front of my photos, ‘the shrine’ to him. I was sad. As I spoke to him I shed a tear. But I didn’t feel the grief I expected.
You can’t plan for grief. It may not come on those days that you expect. It will hit you when you least expect. That is the lesson I learnt today.
As I stood...
It gets to this point every night - ten pm...and I start thinking about bed...feeling the fear that another nightmare will come, the anticipation that I will spend a few seconds during my dream thinking that this isn't reality and then I go upstairs and am met with a game of musical beds.
SInce my darling hubby died, there has been more swapping of beds then I have experienced in my life.
Right now I am wondering whether I will meet my teenager or my six year old when I climb into my bed.....
i dont actually know what i'm doing, please bare with me?
the beginning?
I had been attending my local clinic as i'd had an abnormal smear test, the doc there had wondered why i had been sent there as it had been my first one.
they done a repeat smear and took a little biopsy whilst there, but said everything looked normal and they would see me in 6 months time.
i returned on sept 2011, had a different doc this time, he said there were borderline changes in the smear but the biopsy...
My 1st consultation was today at 13:00 although being told briefly on the phone about my biopsy being positive for Hodgkins we were both feeing awful waiting for today’s meeting.
My doctor was running late so we didn’t go in till 13:45 that’s the longest 45mins ever..
My doctor explained that the biopsy was only a small one so the tissue they had could not give them enough for her to give me a 100% answer but it was 95% positive for Hodgkins.
They will do a full biopsy of...
does anyone else with bladder/kidney cancer suffer from leg twitching at night? i'm sure it's related and it stops me from sleeping, it also disturbs my partner with my legs going 19 to the dozen so i end up trying to sleep on the sofa. i usually find that because of the way i lie on the sofa i don't twitch and i end up falling asleep but last night i awoke at 3.30am and my leg just wouldn't give up and kept me awake for ages
Hi all,
I used to use this site to help me grieve for both my parents that lost their battle with cancer.
I am now back because it may be that I have to fight this battle too.
I lost my mum when I was 16 and my dad when I was 19. Now I am 21 and undergoing tests to see if I have Lymphoma.
I have been going to the doctors for months because of worsening symptoms.. but doctor seemed baffled as to what it is I could have.
Then in July, 2 lymph nodes swelled and have not gone back to their original...
